Summary
Shane sinks deeper into the chair he can't quite let himself fall asleep in. There had been a moment, hours ago now, where he had dragged himself out of her room, across the parking lot, and into his truck. He hadn't managed to make it any further. Every step had felt wrong, pulling against the tugging sensation hidden beneath his ribcage.
He glances down at his watch, 2:37am. Shane winces, stretching out against the hard plastic.

She turns slowly, and finds Nick leaning against the doorframe. Gold in the honey-bright rays of the evening sun. He looks hesitant, and was fixing Noah with a look she didn't like.

“Now that I’m no longer beholden to a rather arbitrary moral code, I have to ask: Do you pay taxes? Actually, more importantly, do you think I can stop paying taxes now? That seems like a sufficiently demonic thing to do. Refusing to do my civic duty and whatnot. Quite devious, I’d argue.”
This was, in hindsight, not the most sensitive way of breaking the news.

He wakes up in the middle of the night with hair in his mouth. It comes back to him in fragments, the unwitting sleepover. Her, dozing off on his shoulder first. Him, falling asleep right after. At some point, they shifted, and stretched out. She's half on him, an arm around his stomach, her legs curled up. He lifts his sleeping legs, doesn't move.
Or Gibbs & Lala fall into something like friendship, then fall further.
