That was the only thought circling around their brain as they stepped deeper and deeper into the water, consumed by the cold, dark water now invading their lungs and fighting their own survival instinct that decided to come out now of all times, but it was too late. Numbness took over their body as they slowly sank to the bottom of the ocean...
Air. They needed air. As they spit out the saltwater inside them to replace it with air they saw a mass of tentacles and bright purple hair quickly return to the waves that nearly devoured them only moments before.

“Mizuki, I have an offer." As though predicting she would try to escape, he moves before she can sidestep him.
Her eyes are forced up again, finally meeting Rui’s for the first time since their back-and-forth began. His eyes sparkle but reveal nothing beyond mischievousness. He looks like a salesperson ready to make a successful proposal—like he knows the sale will happen before it’s even made. Anytime Rui gets this look in his eyes, Mizuki has to brace herself for what’s to come, because she’ll definitely get roped into it if she isn’t careful.
“Shiraishi-kun said you’ve been having a hard time with physics,” he states.
Or: Mizuki receives some much-needed help from Rui, and he answers a difficult question in return.
