Summary
Gris doesn’t have a destination in mind. Enjin’s disappeared, again. As he does. As he always probably will. And it will never be Gris’ business–as far as to why and where Enjin goes–but it is an intrinsic flaw of his dutiful nature to at the very least make an attempt to be in proximity to it. Nothing will change on the basis of whether or not he concerns himself with his absence, because the outcome of Enjin reappearing at Headquarters come morning is infallible. He knows this, as an unanimously agreed upon aspect of the giver’s nature. Gris is sitting alone behind the buzzing wheel of his jeep anyway.
OR;
Gris goes on a late-night drive. It's just coincidence that Enjin just so happens to be missing from Headquarters-and that Gris somehow knows exactly where to go to find him.

Summary
He’s beautiful. Ethereal. Like an angel carved from marble and painted on the ceilings of high vaulted chapels.
“I am. I’m real.” Stranger sounds like he’s trying to convince more than Wolfwood. “Maybe not as real right now as I usually am, but I’m real.”
Wolfwood sits up to look down at Stranger, catching the crown that slips off his head. His hands aren’t gentle enough to preserve the delicate lines of purple flowers, irise’s Stranger had said, and woven grass. But Wolfwood wants to save it.

Summary
“You’re right,” Wolfwood concedes reluctantly, “least we ain’t sick. God damnit.” He claps his hand over his eyes. “Just, don’t—I can’t—you can’t count on me to carry us through this. I’m not—” His lower lip wobbles, and he swallows, hard. “I’m no good with babies.”
Vash is silent after that. Wolfwood doesn’t dare to open his eyes and try and gauge his expression. It’s not like Vash is perfectly intuitive all the time, but he has his moments, and sometimes it feels like he can cut through Wolfwood with a single glance. It’s a quality that Wolfwood has admired in him, from time to time, but right now, he’s not sure he could take it.
“...Should we take her back?” Vash whispers. “If you really think we should—”
“No,” Wolfwood cuts him off, probably too loud, “I said no.”
---
A newly orphaned baby ends up, temporarily, falling into Vash and Wolfwood's care.
