Summary
When he was ten years old, Lee Minho’s parents sat him down at their kitchen table, held his hands, and asked him how he felt about getting a soulmate timer implant.
Minho’s parents both have timers. He knows that because of this — and also because he’s their only child, and they want him to have love and support — they’re keen on the idea of him getting a soulmate timer as well. It’s a quick and painless procedure, done in the forearm. The screen is small and unobtrusive, and could be easily mistaken for a tattoo, except for the numbers counting down the hours, minutes, and seconds. It could change his life.
When Minho turns eleven, he asks his parents to get a soulmate timer for his birthday. When Minho is eighteen, he meets Jisung. His soulmate timer remains as blank as it had been on the day of his procedure.

Summary
He always talks to Jisung differently than he does everyone else. To the younger idols that they work with, he’s loud and encouraging. To their other members, he’s thoughtful and patient. Hell, even with Chan, he speaks softly because Chan has a million other things he has to deal with at all times and Changbin doesn’t want to put any more stress on his plate.
The words dig into his tongue like barbed wire, but he speaks them anyway — soft and hesitant, but still loud enough to be heard. “Why do you treat everyone else differently than the way you treat me?”
—
or: jisung wishes changbin would treat him as softly as he does everyone else. changbin loves jisung much more than he'll ever realize.

Summary
“I just worry about you,” she says, in that motherly tone of let me care about you, damn it that always makes him feel guilty. “Your foot was broken so badly you had to have surgery, and you don’t even have any friends staying there with you right now. How am I supposed to feel with you being hurt and alone?”
Changbin, desperate at this point, looks over at Chan, who is quietly and politely taking notes, and silently apologizes in his head for what he is about to do.
“Actually, I do have someone here with me,” Changbin says, clearing his throat, and the nurse that Changbin has known for all of twenty minutes looks up. They lock eyes for a long moment, and then Chan takes off his hospital badge so that Changbin’s mom won’t be able to tell he’s literally just his nurse. Changbin thinks he could marry this man right now. “Eomma, I want you to meet my friend Chan.”
—
or: changbin falls in two ways. once off a ladder, breaking his foot, and once for the cute nurse taking care of him after surgery.

Summary
“Yeah, well,” Minho mumbles, flicking his lighter a couple more times. He cups the flame in one hand, shielding it against the wind as he lights his cigarette. He takes a long drag with closed eyes, holding it in until he can’t anymore, then coughs it out into the night. He shakes himself. “If you were me, you’d kill yourself.”
Seungmin plucks the cigarette from between Minho’s fingers without asking and takes a drag himself. “If I were you, I’d start living.”
—
or: it takes a little tough love from seungmin to convince minho that maybe he's not as terrible as his brain makes him think he is — and that his relationship with jisung is worth salvaging.

Summary
Minho is always beautiful. He’s ethereal every second of every day; something that Jisung knows he may be a little bit biased about, but that a good amount of people also agree with. But right now he looks positively picturesque, with the white petals scattered in his dark hair and his pretty, plush lips partly open as he blinks curiously — god, those eyelashes and his blinking habit are going to be the death of Jisung.
Something warm and fuzzy settles in the pit of his stomach, thinking about Minho in all white, just like the petals, in a different setting. Perhaps there will be daisies there, too, when the day comes.
—
while minho dozes on a picnic date, jisung decides to cover him with daisies.

Summary
I tease you, but I know where the line is better than anyone else.
You know what makes it even more annoying? Most people just cross the line, and when they do, I can explode and get some relief from it. I know that you don’t want to take it too far and make me blow up, but you tease me to just below that point… It’s just like a mosquito bite I can’t reach to scratch. I get no relief.

Summary
He’s calm. He’s cool. He’s not thinking about the shape of Jisung’s mouth, or how well the suit fits him, or the way his eyes lit up just now, or whether he still smells like bergamot and broken dreams of a lifetime.
He’s fine. This is fine.
This is totally, completely fine.
At least that’s what Minho tries to convince himself about until, from the corner of his eye, catches Jisung starting to walk over.
Now, he is not so sure. Now, he might actually die.
Four years of yearning. Two years together. One year apart.
Minho thought he’d buried the what-ifs– until a wedding, a slow dance, two best men and strawberry champagne remind him just how unfinished some stories can be.
What begins as awkward glances slowly unfolds into painfully familiar tension. But before they can even think about something new, Minho and Jisung have to untangle everything that pulled them apart.
or: Minho thinks it’s over between him and Jisung– but some knots simply take longer to tie.

Summary
From closer, it’s clear that Minho is about his age. He’s handsome— very much so— in an untouchable sort of way. Straight nose, sharp eyes, a defined cupid’s bow. He looks sculpted rather than born. Jisung might shrink under the weight of his presence if the situation were different.
Knowing that Minho is dying ruins the illusion of perfection.
Jisung answers an ad online reading: "I'm going to die, but there's a lot of things I haven't done yet that I don't want to do alone."
