"So, you're an Umbrella Scientist, hm? What's it like?"
"Well, they definitely pay well," Luis says, resting his chin against his palm, "Mad science and all that. It's interesting work. Hard work. 'M Sure you know all about that, don't you, Officer?"
Three weeks before the Raccoon City Disaster, rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy comes into work when he's called. On the same path, Umbrella researcher Luis Serra is on a business trip to Umbrella HQ.

Summary
It was supposed to be a light-hearted thing, a charity fundraiser with the newly-reformed Umbrella corporation. Police officers sold as dates for the night to the highest bidder. Leon is not interested in keeping some stuffy rich person company. In fact, he's contemplating running away as fast as he can manage.
Before his inevitable time, though, he runs into a mysterious man who'd taken a break from the party. They . . . hit it off, to say the least. And when it's Leon's turn on the podium, there's only one person he has his eyes on.

He distantly heard Blake’s voice reach the thousand mark, though all of the people betting on him were faceless wraiths, their avaricious claws digging into anything they could reach.
The voices tapered to a hush. Leon hadn’t even heard the final number.
He bit his lip, caught himself doing it, forced himself to stop.
The faces were all turned to him, eyeing him like a prize, like a pet, like a slice of meat. Something to be ogled at, something to be touched and displayed.
“Going once, going twice, and sold—”
“Fifteen thousand.” Luis caught his eye and winked.

Summary
While searching for Ashley, Leon runs into one of Los Illuminados's scientists, the suave, irritating biologist with frustratingly perfect hair. Leon has no idea what Luis wants from him. On his journey through Spain, he runs into Luis several more times, and only grows more suspicious with each encounter. With no other hope of removing his and Ashley's plagas, though, does he really have any other choice?

Luis leaned forward, as though magnetized. Leon could only watch as he did, mind hazy. He felt hypnotized.
Only when Luis’s lips were a bare half-inch away from his did he turn his head away and dodge the kiss.
Luis sighed deeply, frustration and grudging mirth diffusing into the air.
"Maybe you can try again later,” Leon said gravely, eyeing him as severely as he could manage. "If you don’t die.”
“I won’t die,” he insisted immediately. “Not with that ultimatum.”
