Summary
The aftermath of the battle at Manaforge Omega has left Alleria furious and conflicted.
Xal’atath escapes with the Dark Heart, Dimensius’ essence safely tucked into her pocket. Wracked by guilt and anger, Alleria sets her sights on hunting her down again, aided by Sylvanas Windrunner, who has been summoned back from the Maw to assist in defending Azeroth from Xal’atath’s inevitable return.
Alleria and Sylvanas end up following cold trail after cold trail, never quite catching up to the Harbinger.
Nearly a year later, Xal’atath finds them, instead.
As her void armies descend upon Silvermoon and the Sunwell, Alleria wonders if she’s even ready to face her again. She knows she is not the same woman who had once chased Xal’atath across the entirety of Khaz’Algar with no hesitation.
But face her Alleria must, as she and Sylvanas scramble to join the defense of the Sunwell alongside their allies.
And Xal’atath? Something’s shifted in her, too.

Alleria Windrunner struggles to cope with the Void whispers and goes on a rampage in her home, Xal'atath appears unexpectedly and is unnervingly kind to her - in her own way.
“Darling Alleria, this is a most delightful scene to see.” a voice slowly trilled with thinly-veiled wickedness and a level of amusement that made Alleria embarrassed and furious.
Alleria’s eyes shot open, suddenly feeling a shock-wave of awareness jolting uncomfortably throughout her body. It was there, in the reflection of the mirror, that she saw the intruding woman standing just feet away from her, leaning against the cracked frame of the bathroom door. Alleria turned quickly, far too quick. She felt dizzy with nausea, and millions upon millions of her worst fears and anxieties banged around violently within her skull, and the combination of the material and psychological war within completely wrecked her.

Lynn’s wrapping her arms around her torso, and resting her head against Amanda’s shoulder blade. Lynn says it, says I love you, and Amanda’s sure it’s true. She’s sure she should believe Lynn, but even still the anxious knot in her stomach makes her feel sick.
“Why?” Amanda asks. Her voice is stiff and flat, and it’s short because she fears that if she talks too long then her voice might get too weak, too close to a sob for her liking.
