The man pinned to the van seemed to brace himself for that damning reality. His softly stubbled angular jaw squared, feeling the unrelenting force of the former marine’s coarse stare.
Red was prepared for Frank to angle the knife and sever the wire, hack that imperceptible cord which fastened Daredevil and the Punisher, Red and Frank, here the first place.

The first time Matt dies he is nine. The chemicals do more than take his eyesight. In the ambulance on the way to the hospital, Matt screams. Everything is burning, his face, his arms, and his throat. He swallowed some of the chemicals and now it feels like his insides are melting. As his heart slowly stops beating the medics around him get louder and louder, shouting at each other. The last thing he hears is his father pleading with him to hold on, “I can’t lose you too Matty.”
He wakes gasping a few moments later as the shock of a defibrillator hits him. Everyone, Matt included, assumes that it was the electricity that brought him back to life. It isn’t until later that he learns otherwise.

It was almost midnight when the noise started. It hit Peter right in the auditory cortex, quiet, insistent, whining but somehow also melodic, in the upper ranges of his hearing. He paused his patrol for a moment on the side of a building and closed his eyes to listen more carefully. It was probably out of reach of most humans, but a few dogs barked in the distance. He followed the sound, swinging above the late-night streets, still alert for any signs of trouble.
It was coming from a warehouse by the docks in Hell’s Kitchen. The Devil’s territory. Peter hadn’t met Daredevil, and he was pretty sure he wanted it to stay that way. Sure, he admired the man (was he even a man? The jury was out on that one) for his alleged takedowns of mob bosses, and the Bulletin had mentioned something about ninjas, which Peter thought was seriously cool, but come on, he was scary. Like – really scary. In a way that your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man was resolutely not. And never would be, thank you very much.
For all that the papers seemed to like the Devil better.

After the events of midtown, Matt thought he'd seen the last of the Hand. When the Avengers step foot in his city and warn him of Hydra, it only adds more onto his and the Defender's plates. Enter the ray of sunshine-- The Punisher. Between keeping his identity, and Frank out of prison, and unraveling the confusing clusterfuck of their "relationship", and then having to figure out where the Hand and Hydra lie between all of this--...it sucks.
It would be better if Matt could fuck his worries away but now the Avenger's seem hellbent on unintentionally cockblocking him. Except Natasha. She's doing it intentionally. He knows it. Daredevil can't even make it home without worrying that the Avengers are stalking his apartment. With all of this mess (did he mention he's a lawyer? a man with a real job? he works!), there is no time for the amazing, mindblowing, astronomical, bodyhealing sex he could be having.
Did he mention that the Avenger's think he hates his not-boyfriend-secret lover?
