Summary
"There is one final thing." Adora trails off, unsure how to word the request—she’s never asked for something so selfish. She feels her allies stiffen at her back.
"What more could you Eternians possibly want?" Queen C'yra's voice is rude, vitriol oozing into every syllable. Her chest heaves as she tries to collect herself.
Adora points directly at the fiercest warrior the Magicats have, all fire and brimstone on the battlefield. She can't imagine leaving her behind, locked away in this tiny fiefdom.
"I want her," Adora states simply. There are murmurs of outrage throughout the room.
"My daughter? As your slave?" The Queen hisses from her belly a deep sound that would have intimidated most. Adora rolls her eyes at the mischaracterization. She looks at who she now knows is the Princess, she would clearly never be a slave to any mortal.
"No obviously not. I would not insult you that way, your majesty. I meant as my mate. You do have mates here in Halfmoon?"

"Adora."
Shit, Adora was still staring at her. It burns to look at her, the want and grief burning in her heart, dripping out in the lines permanently in her back.
"Sorry, I-sorry. I just haven't seen you in a while, that's all."
"Yeah. Thats the point of no contact Adora.", she says, picking at her nails. "You never answered my question about your ear though."
Adora feels her face flush immediately. Catra's always known how to push her buttons, make her feel emotions she hasn't felt in a long time. This is no different. "I got caught up in something before this, you know how it is."
Catra's eyes give her a one over, looking for other injuries? Or looking for something else to make Adora feel self-conscious of. She puffs out a sigh, leaning further back into the booth, reaching up to run her hand through her hair. Adora is still mesmerized. She always has been.

Adora and Catra are outlaw cowboys, who, if anyone asked, hate each other.

Summary
Once past the threshold, she immediately turns to her left to make her way to the counter. As she begins to do just that, she spots someone with ruffled, short, brown hair. They’re hunched over the counter so closely, they are practically kissing the notebook they’re writing in. The person must have heard Adora come in, but makes no move to look up. As she reaches the counter, it seems that only her close proximity seems to stir the person from their intense focus. As they extricate themselves from the notebook below—they seem to have been writing down responses to questions listed on a paper sitting next to it—they look up to meet eyes with Adora.
In that moment, as their eyes meet, Adora makes an immediate, and definitive decision: she has to work here.
She doesn’t care if they make their employees clean the floors by licking them, or pay them in monopoly money; she has to work here. Because the most striking blue and gold eyes just met hers and Adora is certain she’s forgotten how to breathe.
