Summary
The Sword's eyes make Castiel feel small and impossible. They make Castiel feel cold, and aching, and exhausted, and hopeful. They make Castiel feel—
They make Castiel feel.
Silent, he raises his hand.
The Sword flinches, fierce and sudden.
"Don't—" he starts, gathering his legs beneath him, moving to stand and retreat. The fear from before blooms around his soul like slick oil in clean water, dark and deadly. Numbly, Castiel realizes he had not noticed it leave at all. "Don't touch me—"
"Dean Winchester," Castiel says, quiet and careful, "You are Saved."
And he rests his hand on the Sword.
—
Castiel is told to save Dean Winchester. It is the only thing he will never fail to do.

Summary
“Oh,” says Nina, sudden and soft, and Crowley watches the indignation in her expression melt away.
This is how he finds himself, rather abruptly or perhaps not abruptly at all, sitting in an empty coffee shop with two human women across the table from him, gazing at him with such familiarity that Crowley feels the overwhelming need to get the Hell out of there.
He doesn’t.
—
Aziraphale leaves. Crowley feels.

Summary
“My name is Luke,” Luke introduces. “And I… I’d really appreciate it if you could shoot me.”
There’s a long moment where the man doesn’t react. No acceptance or rejection, no words at all, not even a tilt of his helmet. He only stands there and stares, and Luke can’t tell which one of them he’s looking at—can’t tell anything, really, of what he might be feeling, hidden behind the visor. His stance projects him as strong and confident and nothing else, and Luke finds himself sorely missing the connection of another person’s gaze, even a stranger’s, even one who he’s just asked to kill him.
Finally, just when Luke is starting to wonder if he’s going to have to beg for the dignity of his own death, the man asks, “Couldn’t do it yourself?”
It’s callous and awful and kind of fucked up, and it makes Luke laugh, just a little.
—
There is something about the universe, Luke Skywalker believes, that is relentlessly determined to keep him alive, whether he wants to be or not. It takes shape in the form of Din Djarin.

Summary
There’s not much use thinking about those times, anymore. He will always be Hob Gadling, but the biggest part of what that used to entail had stormed away on a rainy night like this one hundred and thirty years ago, and hadn’t come back.
Hob remembers the ache in his chest in 1989. He remembers the glow of the pub, so much warmer than the pale light cutting across the alley now. He remembers staring at that empty chair for hours—first with anxiety, then with concern, and eventually with bitterness.
“You dare suggest one such as I might need your companionship.”
Hob had dared, and he’d paid for it.
He’d walked out of that pub in 1989 and not looked back.
—
It's 2020, and Hob Gadling is old, tired, and bitter, dancing the waltz of London's underground black market. Word has spread about something from the Burgess Estate going to auction, and who is Hob to deny himself and his team the opportunity to get their hands on it?

Summary
“Loo,” Grogu whines, both his hands on the Jedi’s face now, his big eyes locked on the wound.
Once, Din might have banished his son from the room, an effort to spare the child from the grim reality of this kind of violence. Once, he might have looked at Grogu and seen only helplessness and a lack of understanding, a baby unexposed to the world outside his pram. Once, he might have even tried to offer platitudes he never quite believed himself, fake reassurances like ash on his tongue, expecting Grogu wouldn’t possibly know any different.
But that was once, and this is now, and Grogu’s tiny beskar chainmail gleams under his robes in the dull light of Din’s bedroom.
So, instead of he’ll be okay and nothing to worry about, Din looks at his son and asks, “How’s he doing, kid?”
—
Wrecking an X-Wing in Din's front yard wasn't on his list of feasible ways the Jedi might show up again, but all things considered, it's at least a little better than cutting through an entire squadron of Darktroopers single-handed.

Summary
“An Endless?” Hob asks, softly, because it feels like a question that needs to be soft.
“That’s what we are,” Death responds, trying again for a small smile. “Me and D—”
“Don’t,” Hob interrupts, far stronger than he meant to, and Death looks surprised for as long as it takes him to get out, “Don’t, please. I-I want to hear it from him.”
Sympathy colors Death’s gaze even as Hob feels his face burn. Six hundred years, Hob thinks—he’ll be damned if he finds out his Stranger’s name from anyone but the odd man himself.
—
It's 1989 and Hob Gadling thinks he's been stood up. Death herself is kind enough to inform him otherwise—and, well, now Hob's got to bloody do something about it, doesn't he?
