Summary
For as long as Joe could remember, Cherry had been deathly allergic to cats.
So, it made a fair amount of sense that, when Joe found a sweet little cat, half-starved and rooting around the trash just outside the backdoor to Sia la luce and took it home, he couldn’t very well invite Cherry over, right? That could be a disaster!
A grumpy Cherry was one thing. But a grumpy Cherry suffering intense allergies was another.

“Hey, Carla?” Joe whispered experimentally at the bracelet charging on Cherry’s nightstand. Would Carla answer him?
“Yes, Kojiro?”
“Shh,” Joe said, not knowing if that would actually affect her volume or not. He hoped so. “Could you…when Kaoru wakes up, could you tell him something for me?”
“Yes.”
“Then tell him, ‘I think you’re beautiful.’”
“Time to wake up, Master. This is your fifth alarm.”
Cherry squinched his face irritably and heaved an annoyed sigh. “I’m up, Carla, I’m up.”
“Good morning, Master. I think you’re beautiful.”
A bit stunned and more than a little confused, Cherry decided that it was just too damn early and he’d heard wrong. “Sorry, Carla—could you repeat that?”
