These two thoughts warred for dominance in Majima as Kiryu stopped at the edge of the porch and squinted at him.
Kiryu said, “I’ve never seen you wearing a shirt.”

Summary
Kiryu always told himself that he knew people best by being able to fight them, so meeting Majima for the first time was like meeting someone who spoke his language. If Majima wanted to "know" him by fighting him, then so be it.
One thing he didn't expect, though, was to find out something else about himself in the process.
And that something is he that he likes pain, a lot.

Summary
Asking Kiryu on a date is supposed to be a joke. It’s just another in Majima’s long list of contrived reasons for Kiryu to get mad enough at him to fight him.
So he’s thrown for a loop when Kiryu doesn’t answer him by punching him in face, but by accepting.
Obviously Kiryu’s playing along, just like he did with the bartender scheme, and with Goromi, and everything else. Majima can work with that. There’s no way he’ll crack before Kiryu does.
Or: Majima commits to the bit so hard he ends up in a long-term relationship.

Summary
Okita knew he was in trouble the day that Saito first set foot in the Shinsengumi headquarters. The way the mysterious newcomer wiped the floor with Shinpachi was impressive, but what really struck Okita’s heart was the look that Saito gave him during their deathly stalemate, when both of their short swords hovered a fingerbreadth away from the opponent’s skin. That angry frown and the fire in those brown eyes awakened a hunger in Okita that he could not stave off ever since.

A Shinsengumi mission sends Saito and Okita to the Arashiyama mountain range on the outskirts of Kyoto. They take in the scenic landscape while getting to know each other more intimately.
