“Fuck!” Mommy shouts, it's a bad word. Aly wants to say something, but her Mommy's eyes wide and she’s crying. “Fuck…fuck…”
Aly feels her chest start to hurt, her stomach all twisty. She’s never seen her mommy like this. “What’s wrong?” Aly asks, reaching out to touch her mommy’s hand.
When she does, Mommy lets out a very loud sob. “Ducky…” she whispers. “Do you…” Mommy makes another weird face, like she’s hurting. “Do you remember when I talked to you about emergencies?”

Summary
Ava rolls over, shutting her brain off, and very carefully presses the palm of her hand on Beatrice’s waist.
Beatrice tenses immediately, a sharp intake of breath filling the otherwise quiet bedroom.
A few seconds pass with nothing and Ava starts to pull away, an apology on her lips, when Beatrice grabs her wrist. It’s so fast that Ava hardly registers what happened, but suddenly, she’s being pulled to the other side of the bed.
Ava lets it happen, helps, and now she’s hovering over Beatrice. She’s so close she can see the shine in her eyes, how wide they are and she can see them flicker to her lips and back up.
Bea’s made this move, it’s her turn now. Ava leans forward, giving Beatrice a chance to turn her away.
When she doesn’t, it’s game over. Their lips meet and every functioning part of Ava’s brain that might tell her there will be consequences to this completely disappear.
The world could set fire tonight and Ava would keep kissing her as the apartment collapsed around them.
