Summary
"It shouldn’t bother him the way it does.
The boxes that once fueled his anxiety are broken down, stacked neatly by the curb to be picked up by recycling. The art that littered the floor now brightens up every room in his house. And, most importantly, Lucy is safe in his arms, her head resting over his heart, her chest rising and falling steadily while Kojo snores on her other side.
It shouldn’t bother him."

Summary
What Lucy is pretty sure was her living room at one point now looks like some sort of post-apocalyptic version of Santa’s workshop. Ribbon is strewn across the couch, empty cardboard tubes litter the floor, and the rug is barely visible under a pile of what appears to be several taped together balls of crumpled wrapping paper. Not even Kojo has been spared from the carnage; the old dog stares at Lucy from his bed with pleading eyes, a bright red stick-on bow crookedly placed on his head.

Summary
As if the situation can’t get even more overwhelming, the door of a shop slams, and Tim hears the voice of one of the last people he’d want to witness this moment.
“Awww, everyone say ‘baby’s first crime scene!’”
Tim whips around to see Angela grinning with her phone out. “Lopez, I swear to—”
“Baby’s first crime scene!” Lucy throws up a peace sign and beams at the camera while the baby coos in her arms.

Summary
"But what Lucy doesn’t know, what she won’t know until she does the math in her head weeks later, is that she’s not alone when she walks down the aisle the next day. That as of the night before, there’s something, someone who will be with her everywhere she goes for the next nine months."
