Sicktember Day 9- "Get your butt back in bed!"
Kerry pauses the TV when she hears those clumsy, familiar footfalls on the stairs, her chest heaving in a sigh. The static flickers. In the quiet that's left behind, she can make out the laboured sound of his breathing with each step, too, until at last the door creaks open, and there he is. Carter. Flu-shaky, arms wrapped around his middle, teeth chattering. Hair flopping limply over a shining forehead.
“You should be in bed.” She tells him, arching her brows, and he curls in on himself slightly. Chastens.
“I k-know, just n-needed some water.”
OR
After living in Kerry's basement for a month, Carter gets the flu, and is definitely 100% okay on his own (not).

And now this.
Or: in the aftermath of a shooting in the ER, Peter Benton is finally forced to deal with his emotions - and his fractured relationship with a certain former student.

Summary
As a surgical intern in his second year at County General, John Carter is not doing a great job at taking care of himself. On a snowy day in March, Carter's sleep deprivation, poor eating habits, and dedication to his patients contribute to an incredibly poor judgement call that might just cost him everything.
In simpler terms: Carter goes into hypovolemic shock after donating a dangerous amount of blood during a chaotic shift in the ER.

Summary
“Oh, come on!” The outraged shout springs from right behind him, and he distantly recognizes it as the voice of Lyle, immediately followed by Crazy Lee’s, “He’s had enough!”
Pope swallows. It’s not his fault that Tom Mason is a fool. It’s not his fault that the man’s misguided sense of honor most often takes the form of brazen stupidity. He didn’t ask Mason to take this for him. It’s his own fault. If he had just kept his mouth shut like the rest of them, they’d all be happily going to bed without their collective supper right now.
