There was something bubbling in her throat, and she wasn’t sure if it was a scream or a laugh or if she was going to be sick. Is this some sort of sick joke? Some sort of cruel prank set on her by the universe. That had to be it. Was the past year not suffering enough? Now she is forced to see him. She couldn’t stay out here all night. Not when the rain was beginning to chill her to the bone and her hair was going to be a sopping wet mess for the rest of the night. But her body didn’t want to move. Her muscles weren’t reacting, her brain disconnected from the rest of her.

He paused, feeling the rush of needing to leave, “What do you say?”
Argyle stared at him, first his lips were pursed, and his brows creased in the middle as he mulled over the odd proposition that Steve had just given him. Steve was standing, feeling almost out of breath before realizing he was holding it. Something was telling him he was running out of time. Running out of chances. Then, slowly, the smile spread across Argyle’s lips, loosening something in Steve’s chest.
“Alright. Why not?”

Summary
Two people who weren’t close, not really, and probably never would be due to conflicting personalities are brought together by one person. One shining light in the otherwise darkened world between them, the wild protective force that would bring the two together on more than one occasion. That beautiful person was entirely too bright for the world, snuffed out before their time and it left two people to pick up the pieces. Left standing, together, in the aftermath of their worst personal tragedy, unsure of how to navigate the world. So, naturally, they sought each other’s company. Each other’s comfort. Any shred of the light they once had would be in the other person, not sought for but found.

It felt like they were driving into the sun, bright and insufferably hot. That’s how it felt in California. Sure, there were less than sunny days, there were days filled with clouds and rain, but they were far and few between the sunshine. He always felt like he was constantly getting sunburned and there was something in his skin that kept him from tanning. Always red, always flushed, always uncomfortable. Jonathan Byers wasn’t really a fan of the move to California.

She had such a beautiful smile that even while he was pulled away to some drinking game and her friends pulled her away, he couldn’t get that smile out of his head. It was like staring directly at the sun without getting burned or blinded. He drank and drank, filling himself with the liquid courage that he usually passed off as natural charisma. Eventually, he’ll find her again, eventually, he’ll make his moves. They don’t call him King Steve just because he could last the longest keg stand in the party crowd.

Sold Out. The marquee outside the venue, off white with black lettering, spelling out the band’s name with big red sold out underneath. The promotional tour posters along the walls of the entrance were marked off with their own sold out tape. No matter where one would look, there it was, sold the fuck out. It was surreal to be looking at, to take it all in and know that this is it. This is the start of something big, the tip of it all is so close it could be tasted, felt, but there will only be one place to go from there.

She heard the slight creak of wood and she could smell that he was closer to her now. “We don’t keep secrets,” he told her, his voice so close to her now, she didn’t have to look to know where he was. That he would be moments away from kissing her head. A reassuring gesture.
Slowly, Nancy peeked out through her hands and sure enough, Eddie was balancing in a slight squatting position in front of her, his face only inches from her. She didn’t even mind the cigarette still smoldering away in his fingers, the smoke wafting between them. Even in the darkness, she could make out his eyes, as if the brown darkened to a shiny onyx.
“Do you want to come to Boston with me?”

Summary
I know Eddie. He used to DM in Hellfire. Remember? She didn’t. She didn’t remember Eddie Munson or any of the other members of the band. But she knew the story. She knew that the moment their drummer and bassist graduated, a few years after Eddie had, the band started to gain momentum. It took them four years until they were breaking out into the scene in a big way. Like playing on MTV during prime hours big. Like selling out Madison Square Garden for two back to back nights big.
Needless to say, Nancy knew their rise to fame but writing about it felt like trying to pull teeth. Which might be easier at this point. She didn’t even like their music. Not really. At least not from what she’s heard and even then, she couldn’t be sure if she was disliking it simply to mess with Mike. She wasn’t into metal, no matter how mainstream it had gotten over the past decade or so. There was no heart in the story and she couldn’t get past it.

He was summoned. That was the only thing he could think of as an explanation if anyone bothered to ask why he was here, of all places, on this particular night. As he stared up at the large house, the red door, he could hear music playing loudly and it’s whatever was popular on the radio. This isn’t music. Distantly he could hear splashes, screams, and yells coming from the backyard, the sounds echoing along the woods that surrounded them. Whoever the fuck Steve Harrington is, his house is literally a backdrop to a horror movie and a small part of him was impressed.
Only a small part. The guy was clearly well off with rich parents, the thought of walking in there with his trailer trash clothes and, although he cleans them regularly, dirty shoes. Not worth mentioning it seemed a good chunk of the people who love to torment him and call him a freak were mingling outside.
But he was summoned.
