"Oh, fuck..." Roy breathes, before his common sense can catch up to the fact that he shouldn't be swearing in front of an eight year-old. "Jesus Christ. Are you okay?"

"Oh," says Roy, before he can make a decision. "Yes."
Jamie wrinkles up his forehead. If he's that calm, he must not understand what Jamie is trying to ask. "Romantic," he decides. "Are things between us romantic?"
"Yes," Roy repeats.
