“Ottawa is really fucking cold. So much harsher than here—the valley funnels arctic air or something.” Shane studies Ilya’s wool peacoat as he slips into it near the door of Shane’s apartment. It’s very open at the neck. “I hope you brought something warmer than that.”
Ilya makes a derisive sound while he rolls his eyes toward the ceiling. “I am from Moscow.”
“I know that—but how long has it been since you’ve been there in the winter? The body forgets,” Shane answers, choosing to ignore his attitude. He pulls a well-loved Hudson’s Bay scarf from his closet and wraps it gently around Ilya’s neck. He gets a second eye roll for his trouble.
“Uh-huh,” Ilya mumbles. He doesn’t reject the scarf, but pushes lightly against Shane’s arm. “Are we leaving for your frozen hellscape home city, or staying here for three day fuck vacation?”
