With Tain dead in the attack on the Founders' homeworld, Garak's position on the station is less stable than ever. He needs some kind of anchor on the station, some reason for someone to defend his presence there--and he's certain Sisko doesn't know that it's possible for male Cardassians to become pregnant. Bastard children aren't the kind of reputation-ender in the Federation as they are on Cardassia, but fathering a child on Garak... Sisko wouldn't want that known. Neither would he want to abandon his child. All Garak has to do is lure Sisko to his bed a few times and he'll have the perfect reason for Sisko to want to keep him safe on the station...

Summary
Something is wrong. There are Klaestron on the station with an extradition warrant for Curzon Dax, but they've executed it against Jadzia like a kidnapping. Someone from the Trill government is here, but Trill regard past lives as inviolably separate. There's no way any of this is aboveboard, but Starfleet still refuses to send a JAG and all the governments involved are saying the warrant is legitimate. Julian and Odo are both certain something is wrong, but they're not sure what. As if that wasn't enough, Rionoj is back on the station, carrying both experimental medical nanites and biological materials so dangerous to own that even she wants to get rid of them--which means Julian has to figure out what they are and what to do about it.

Summary
Julian just wants to keep his head down and get through a few days without anything else happening. There's a post-viral syndrome slowly becoming more evident among the aphasia victims and he's a witness in a disciplinary proceeding, and that's on top of the usual chaos integrating the two crews. But then power dips start seriously endangering critical patients and Lense is asleep, unable to be woken, after she went on a date with a mysterious human named Vash... and now Q is floating around the station. Julian lives by Garak's advice never to trust coincidences, but if none of this is coincidental, Julian needs to unravel exactly how these things are connected, before anyone is killed by the power dips... and before the not-coma advances far enough to make recovery difficult if Lense ever wakes up.
