“…Crucio!” Black repeated, this time with more fervour.
Yet, still nothing. Hermione noticed from the corner of her eye that Narcissa had reentered the room and was watching the encounter with nearly as much confusion as the two of them. Distantly, she wondered if the sensible option here would have been for her to pretend to be tortured.
Incensed, Bellatrix’s eyes widened, burning with a newfound fury. “CRUCIO, CRUCIO, CRUCIO!” She screamed out the curses in rapid succession, voice tinging with desperation. Hermione began to get the hazy feeling in the back of her mind that something was terribly wrong.

In an alternate universe where you cannot intentionally harm your soulmate, Bellatrix and Hermione find out that they are each others in the worst possible way. Convinced it’s a curse, they relocate to Black Manor in an attempt to break their “fake” bond. However, they begin to slowly find themselves falling for each other in the process, despite the odds.

“Ah, ah. Don’t move,” Bellatrix crooned, the soothing strokes ceasing abruptly, replaced with an unforgiving yank of warning. Her scalp burned, and she mewled in pain. “I know, I know. It's been a while since we last spoke.”
Another sigh escaped red, cruel lips—it was mocking, a performance.
“But I’ve been thinking about you,” Bellatrix tilted her head. “I’m not sure I want to be done playing with you yet, little witch.”
