“Yeah, Max!” Dustin says. “You had like, two hit points left. You would have been down before I could heal you, and then we would have lost a pretty big advantage, since you were the one Will put Haste on.”
“Exactly!” Lucas says, gesturing at Dustin in agreement. “And you were the only one who could track Vecna through the Upside Down and know when where he was gonna appear when he used Misty Step! We’d have been toast without you,” he says emphatically.
“I guess,” Max says, but she is very obviously pleased that her character was so important.
“I didn’t even see that twist coming, honestly,” Dustin says. “The way you woke up from your coma and suddenly had powers? So cool.”
“It was pretty cool, huh,” Max says, smiling smugly.
(The one where it was all a campaign, but in a good way.)

Ford's research is interrupted by his estranged brother showing up on his doorstep with a kid who claims to be time traveller. Meanwhile in the present, Stan and Mabel try to figure out how to get Dipper back to the right time. There will be secrets revealed, old wounds readdressed, and above it all a one-eyed demon watches with interest.
