Genya’s arms tighten around himself as he sinks onto the cold, hard floor of a bathroom stall, his back pressed against the wall. His body trembles slightly, but he’s definitely not crying. He’s not. He doesn’t want to cry, doesn’t need to cry. It’s not a big deal.
It’s just a certificate.

The one he earned, the one he worked for. The one he practiced shooting every damn day to win.

Summary
The air bites his skin as he lands behind the brush near a lit clearing. Akaza looks up at the torch-lit clearing, his citrine-sapphire eyes locking onto a human dressed in ceremonial clothing, the human’s eyes are covered by a cloth that has the kanji “flames” written on it. He’s barefooted on the cold hard ground, yet he moves to a dance that has no song as if the cold doesn’t exist.
It takes a moment for Akaza to process what he’s witnessing.
Dancing. This man is dancing in the bitter cold. He’s going to get sick.
OR
While on the hunt for the blue spider lily, Akaza witnesses the Kamado family's Kagura. Meeting the Kamados changes his whole perspective of the world and his absolute morals.

Akaza tilts his head, far more amused than he has any right to be. “What would your brother have done?”
“He’d never give up. He would become better than you, and then he’d kill you.” Quitting wasn’t ever an option for Kyojuro, ever. Senjuro shakes his head. “I’m not my brother though.” The pain and weight of that sentence runs deeper than Senjuro could ever hope to convey; Deeper than he cares to admit, even on the nights he lays awake, blanketed in his own failures.
“So you’re ready to give up then?”
“No,” he answers, more confidently than expected.
Akaza smirks. “Then perhaps you’re more similar to him than you realize.”
