If asked several years ago to imagine her perfect life, when she was thirty or forty or somewhere down the line, Jihyo would have mentioned a husband, a few children, and a nice house away from the city. A career under her belt, a quiet life on horizon. Something normal; something sweet and good and simple.
Instead she had a too-expensive apartment, a bed littered with threadbare stuffed animals, and Sana.
Sana, who spent an entire weekend making hourly trips to the nearest convenience store for ice when Jihyo hurt her ankle. Sana, who was unexpectedly particular about how the bed was made. Sana, who loved homemade dinners but refused to learn how to cook. Sana, who was infinitely patient, who understood everything without ever being told.
Sana, who loved her.

It’s disgusting how vulnerable Jihyo feels. She’s so tender hearted, as much as she hates Nayeon she just – she can’t. She can’t believe there’s a part of Nayeon that doesn’t care about her nearly as much as it obsesses over her. Jihyo fiddles with her wedding ring, looking up through her lashes. “You wouldn’t.” She whispers.
“I wouldn’t?” Nayeon tilts her head forward, voice low and mocking.
Meeting Nayeon hasn’t been a fall from grace so much as a headfirst dive.

One minute, she was settling down, a glass of sake in hand and a pen in the other because there were stars glinting over the night sky and it made her itch to talk to Jihyo, the next the words Some days I miss you so much I imagine you’re just out on a walk at the beach and all I have to do is wait for you to come back to me were staring up at her. Then she read over the whole thing again — discovered the most ardent of sentences, placed one after another on the page, wrapped up in all of the longing she contained within herself — and buried her head in her hands for almost fifteen minutes because she was mortified.
(Not because the words existed, but because they managed to make their way out. She’s known they’ve been building up inside her from the minute she started revolving around Jihyo like a distant planet quietly enamored with a blazing star)
