Guy knew he was fucked the second his mouth uttered those last shaky syllables—death, what a joke! If he were nudged off of the thin ledge of his sanity, he might’ve laughed at himself. But fear held him back. Fear drew out a thin sheen of tears over his eyes and a quivering lip. Fear paralyzed his hands and shot down any thought of fighting back against Jasper. Yes, of course it was fear. Fear was the overwhelming, dominating consensus his consciousness came up with. What bubbled underneath that gilded layer, what ordered his passive response to being thrown onto the floor, what bared his neck to a hungry, ancient vampire, he didn’t know.

Guy stares at him, rakes his eyes over the vampire’s body. He can feel Jasper doing the same thing to him. It should make him uncomfortable, but it doesn’t. Jasper should terrify Guy, but all he does is fix him in place with his gaze, pulling him in, if anything.
“You mean, like…,” Guy trails off, hesitant to finish that sentence.
Jasper rolls his eyes. “Sex, boy,” he sighs exasperatedly, “that’s what I mean. You look like you haven’t been fucked right in a good minute.”

“On,” Guy spits out. He’s scared and still angry, and harder than he ever remembers being, and in the mood to make some fucking dumb shit decisions.
In which Guy and Jasper blow off some steam in the London Motherhouse basement. Between the cells full of revenant vampires.

He’d spent the last half-hour or so attempting to sort it, and he finally seemed to be making some headway (emphasis on some). The stack to be sorted doesn’t look any smaller, but he’d managed to track down one or two receipts for something other than pizza (which Dante insisted was a necessary business expense), so…
Dante twitches. In a remarkable demonstration of self-control, he refrains—just barely—from taking Nero by the hips and dragging the smaller man back down onto his lap. Instead, he scrapes his nails along the underside of his desk chair, bits of faux-leather and polyfil falling away as he focuses on the dimple in the small of Nero’s back and reminds himself to breathe. “Peachy-fucking-keen.”
