Summary
April 23rd
This feels stupid. I don’t know why I even started doing it. What’s the point? I haven’t seen that stupid prick for a month now and I’m not going to see him anymore, so it’s a waste of time. I didn’t learn anything about myself, big surprise. Just wasted my time. Who cares about the weather? Who cares what I did during the day? What I thought? Definitely not him anymore. He told me to keep taking the pills.
What if I don’t have anything to say?

Reigen starts a diary.

Summary
Reigen’s arm is squeezed, hard. “What are you hiding, Reigen-san?”
Reigen almost chuckles. Now the kid remembers about respect. How convenient. Though even some basic manners can’t save Ritsu from sounding so ridiculously arrogant. Not the smartest tactic for acquiring any sort of information, if Reigen has to be honest. Ritsu still has a lot to learn.
Maybe Reigen’s initial judgement was too generous.
Reigen finally looks down, and stares him in the eyes. Something flickers in them. Hesitancy. “Do you really want to know?”
By the time Mob turned fourteen, Reigen was supposed to feel safe. That’s when the puberty works its magic, right? Appearance stops posing any danger, personality turns less appealing, behavior becomes noticeably more annoying. This has always been the case. These are the rules.
Mob might be an exception to them. But Ritsu? Ritsu definitely isn’t.
He is, after all, the safest choice.

Summary
Reigen sighs. “Maybe it somehow like, you know. Malfunctioned?” He glances at Ritsu’s face. “Shit. I’m really sorry.”
Three years ago, when Ritsu became more involved in Reigen’s shenanigans, Reigen would sooner die than let these words leave his mouth—both the swear and the apology. If this happened then, he’d instead just talk incessantly, coming up with excuses and maybe even blaming some evil spirits for cursing the car, before ultimately saying it’s Ritsu who’s wholly responsible, actually, and telling him to cover the cleaning fee. Blood is almost impossible to remove, you know, so that’ll be at least ten thousand yen.
Ritsu looks away. “It’s not like it was your fault.”
Reigen breaks his car. Ritsu gets a nosebleed. They fuck each other’s mouths to accept the situation.

Summary
“Well,” Kimblee tilts his head a little, “You know what we could do, just to make sure you stay in line? How about we make an agreement that every time you disobey a direct order, no matter how minor, someone dies?”
Edward can hear his heart pounding in his ears. Or is it the ticking clock? "Someone?”
“Yes, someone. Not someone you love, or even that you care about. But someone. A human being, killed because you wouldn’t do as you were told. A person with hopes, and dreams, and a family. How about that? Would that motivate you?”
It would.
[Ed doesn't get away from Kimblee, up in the North. Kimblee makes sure he regrets it.]

Summary
“Honestly, Mob,” Reigen says, his voice low and relieved. “I don’t know why I’m surprised. You’re a good kid, like I said. I should have figured it wouldn’t matter to you.”
Mob feels a strange warmth gather deep inside. Pride. Reigen trusted him with this, and is glad that he did. Mob cannot doubt it now.
“No,” he affirms, and follows him into the thicket. “It doesn’t.”
But it does. Just a little.
