“Doc broke a tube of something, inhaled it, then fell in the middle of the lab. He said it was someone else’s. Smelled sweet.”
Stratt swears about a paragraph worth of German profanity.
“You’ve got the shape of it,” Carl says when she’s done. “You know what that was?”
She presses hard at her temple. “It was an experimental drug to manipulate neurotransmitters,” she spits out, her consonants especially harsh. “Meant to help the crew in their comas by stabilizing hormonal output.”
“It was supposed to,” Carl echoes. “Does it?”
When Stratt shakes her head sharply, her hair falls from its loose braid. “The very opposite. It was an abject failure—an aphrodisiac. Very potent.”
“Uh oh,” Grace says dreamily.
.....
When Grace has an accident in the lab and ingests an aphrodisiac, Carl takes him to the only person he knows with a private room. Stratt gets them through it.

But it is very typical of him to mindlessly reach out and start doing whatever unfinished tasks he sees before him, grumbling all the while as if someone is forcing him into it. Right now, he looks gobsmacked. Pale and wide eyed and gaping in shock, looking shaken to his core.
“Marriage!?” Shang Qinghua demands, his voice high and strangled.
