And then he bucked up and swallowed his tears because these bat-bird things were annoying the living fuck out of him. What else was he supposed to do? He wasn’t presented with another option.
And he toughs it out. He doesn’t know how long it’s been. Too long.
He makes do. He– survives. Maybe not thrives, but he survives, and that counts for something.

“Ok, seriously, what is going on? That apparently everyone knows?” he asked. The more time he spent with Carol the more frustrated he seemed to get, which was generally unhelpful. Carol had the audacity to look genuinely surprised.
“You don’t know?” she asked, eyes wide. Her gum chewing stilled for a moment before she smiled and shrugged, like whatever she was about to tell Steve was no big deal, just that she knew it first. “He cut his hair.”
