Summary
Sam glanced over the mottled bruises and thick scars wrapping around his torso, accompanied by a hollow stomach and protruding ribs. Dried blood coated his side, spilled from a large gash in his abdomen. Tremors ran up his spine, making him fight so hard to sit still under Sam’s hands. His tearful eyes refused to make contact, like he was afraid of what would follow if he did.
Like this, he didn’t seem so scary. Just… fragile, like tempered glass beneath the threat of a nail.
Or: Sam stumbles across an injured and fearful man in the middle of the night, one month after Triskelion. After bringing him back to his apartment to treat his wounds, he realizes just who — what — he's brought into his home.

He could tell Sam about the people who came to inspect the Soldier before they picked up their goods, about the ones that requested demonstrations before they committed to the price. About the handlers that got to use him for free, a perk of the job. About the times he was made to beg for more, the times he was made to beg to stop, the times he was forbidden from begging at all. The way some liked him dressed up, the way some liked him beat up. The ones that took hours to do as they pleased, the ones that took minutes to finish with him and discard their now useless toy. The times he was reduced to crawling once it was over. The times the other person had just about as much choice as he did, was a target he killed afterwards. That one time he was rotated through ten pairs of hands in two hours. Who called him "it". Who called him "he". The way he wasn't sure which was worse, the ones who didn't regard him as human, or the ones who did and yet were still able to do what they did.
