    Summary

In another universe, a much darker version of Batman has been holding Superman captive for a year.

In this one, Bruce was only planning to neutralize an interdimensional threat. He didn’t plan on a rescue mission. He didn’t plan to take home a hurt, broken captive who may or may not be a version of the Clark Kent he knows. But now that he has, he needs to figure out what to do with him without putting the whole planet at risk.

It takes Clark a while to realize he hasn’t just traded one abuser for another, more dangerous one.

History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, need not be lived again. - Maya Angelou

So he's not surprised to find out that the government (or Blue Sun because they're pretty interchangeable) is experimenting on mutants again. Following that trail leads him to an old army buddy and the kind of crazy ride he hasn't been on since the X-men. But he's got plenty of old friends and a damn good memory these days.

    Summary

The Song is sung, and the Dawn is won, but the victory is bittersweet, and the cost is too high. Yet there is little that could not be done with magic if you were willing to pay the price. Dues are paid, fates are changed, and even destiny itself is covered with a shroud. AU + Time travel. Or alternately:

The Battle for the Dawn is won, but everyone Bran knew was dead, so he throws a tantrum of epic proportions and drags Bloodraven into tossing unsuspecting and just freshly killed Jon Snow back into the past by sacrificing themselves. Messing with time makes ripples in the timeline, and some things are not the same.

There are 0 dragons in this. Dany gives birth to twin girls, Drogo abandons her, dies, and Dany spends the rest of the fic offscreen in the Dosh Khaleen.

Bran's younger self dies before the royal visit.

Hodor becomes Walder, the Red Wake.

Jon writes a letter to Ned with all of his memories of his prior life.
Jon kills Ramsay *immediately.* It’s literally the first thing he does after he sneaks out of Winterfell.

Jon saves a maiden by killing a giant snow bear. He sends the pelt to Winterfell as a gift for Ned.

Jon brings a group of Wildlings, Children of the Forest, and giants together, builds a small town, and fights the Others. He gets married to Val. He also gets an Ice sword that he sends to KL that only Starks can weild and Ice armor.

Ghost is as big as a Clydesdale by the end of this.

Ned briefly disowns Arya because of her refusal to become a lady. She breaks after 5 days as a servant, Ned takes her back, and finds her different teachers. She discovers she can sew better left-handed. When war breaks out, Catelyn sends her to "safety," but unfortunately, Arya's reckless nature and unwillingness to listen catch up to her. She's caught attacking Ironborn. Theon saves her from rape, but she dies at the hands of Drumm, whose son she killed. Her consciousness goes into Nymeria, but according to the Wildlings, the wolf will eventually take over, so they don't tell Catelyn.

Jon avenges Arya by ending House Greyjoy and breaking the Iron Islands' way of life. He cuts out Balon's tongue and Achilles tendons, then delivers him to Cat for execution.

Ned goes to KL as Hand, brings a lot of reinforcements with him AND has Manderly ships standing by for a quick escape AND adds Northern games to the tourney to attract more Northern support to KL. KL thinks he's a sorcerer due to Winter and a lot of crows he attracts.

Howland Reed murders Littlefinger behind Ned's back and doesn't get caught. Tyrion takes his place as Master of Coin, ends up imprisoned somewhere around Essos/Bravos, escapes, takes over a city, and dies wealthy and happy, with many wives.

When Ned refuses to send assassins after pregnant Dany, Robert banishes him. Ned leaves that night.

Robert gets so drunk that he falls down the stairs. Joffrey becomes King.

    War breaks out, then plague.

Jamie is killed in battle by Brienne offscreen.

Tywin dies of plague after naming Robb's future 2nd son Warden of the West instead of Tyrion.

Joffrey is obsessed with the Old Gods and sacrifices people to Weirwoods.

Melisandre leaves Selyse. Selyse starts a fire that kills her and almost kills Shireen, except Stannis saves her, then dies a few months later.

Shireen inherits her father's martial prowess and is named first Joffrey's Master of Ships, then his heir.

    Jeffrey dies of plague.

    Loras dies of plague.

Pregnant Margaery dies a gruesome death offscreen, along with Brienne. Garlan avenges her.

Ned gets shipwrecked, goes into a coma, and wakes up with King Theon of Winter speaking to him in his head. Tommen is his page/squire and Ned grooms him first to be Hand to the King, then when Joffrey dies, King.

The Hound kills the Mountain, then later follows the wrong king and gets torn apart by wolves.

Robb decimates all opponents. He survives 2 assassination attempts organized by Olenna. He threatens to torture one of her female relatives to get her to confess.

She and all the male Tyrells are executed, while the females are sent to the Silent Sisters.

Ned doesn't know that Tommen and Mercella are bastards until Cersei drunkenly confesses it to him while trying to seduce him. This happens after Ned has practically raised Tommen and sworn his allegiance to him.

He, Robb, and Jon decide to take that secret to their graves after Jon confirms he doesn't want the throne.

Aegon is a genuinely good person.

This fic is book canon only and goes DEEP into the lore of every named Kingdom, not just the ones in Westeros.

It also paints a grisly picture of what war does to all people, from Smallfolk to Kings.

Jon's going around building hills out of Reaver skulls, while Robb is leaving heads on pikes up and down rivers.

Ned utterly crushes his enemies after the shipwreck.

The Starks have a lot of power in this and they use it wisely.

That said, even the best of the "good" guys aren't without flaws. They sometimes execute their men for rape and other times let it slide.

Robb, Jon & Ned all employ torture at various times in the story.

"To the victor go the spoils..."

The Night King dies offscreen about 15 years after the main story ends. Ned and Benjen are among those killed. Catelyn dies of grief.

    Summary

I was gutted by season 8 of Game of Thrones. I decided to write a fanfic about it, imagining if Daenerys had a vision about all that was to come. I chose her because I feel like, as badly wrecked as other characters were in S8, she really got it the worst and had the most losses. And she had such a dream before and Daenys Targaryen dreamed of the Doom of Valyria. This is mostly her POV, a few others. I also added things here and there because I would have liked to see the scenes (like why did Arya and Daenerys not have one conversation? I was annoyed by that and so they will meet in this fic). Mostly show canon unless additional info or characters are needed. Starts at the beginning of S7, some scenes start out like the ones in the show but then change, because if Dany knows from her dream that some act will bring disaster she’ll do something else. Feedback is deeply appreciated and more than welcome. Please be as gentle as you can! If you hate Daenerys you will not like this story. But I’m trying to be gentle with all the characters. Well, most of them. Trying to ascribe good motives as much as possible. I do not own these characters or story. Everything here belongs to George R.R. Martin, D.B. Weiss, David Benioff, HBO.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Dany has a dream about Season 7 & 8. When she wakes up, everything changes.

This is good. I feel like if I were more"Team Sansa," I wouldn't have enjoyed it. She goes through a lot of shit because she makes poor choices. She made poor choices because she'd gone through a lot of shit growing up.

Her behavior feels just shy of authentic. I only *just* believed she would be so politically unwise. I felt her punishment fit her crime, but I didn't like that the author very obviously felt like Sansa needed to be taken down a peg.

I also feel like this fic is a bit harsh on the North for wanting their independence, but I also see the author's point regarding their disrespectful and ungrateful behavior towards Dany.

Everyone I like in this fic lives to the end of it. A few people survive that didn't in the original.

Dany has real and valid reasons for not trusting Jon. I like that she makes him work for it.

Overall a solid story from beginning to end.

    Summary

Maester Aemon still has his sight when Jon Snow arrives at Castle Black to swear his vows. Targaryen’s might have typically had pale hair and purple eyes, but Maester Aemon would recognise his family anywhere.

His vows have been tested three times before. This is his fourth and final test and, after nearly eighty years of being a bystander at the Wall whilst his family destroyed themselves, Aemon decides that enough is enough. He’s been a man of the Nights Watch for most of his life; but he’s been a Targaryen all his life.

He might be old and trapped at the Wall, but he grew up in Kings Landing and no one knows the Game of Thrones like he does.

    And so, everything changes.

Excellent! I like that the strongest theme is family and blood being thicker than water.
