Summary
After fighting a monster last winter, and a chance encounter with a stranger last summer, Steve Harrington wants to leave the past in the past and move forward.
He’s captain of the basketball team, he loves his girlfriend Nancy, and the monster is gone. Nothing can stop him from having a nice, normal senior year.
That is, until the guy he shared a drunken ‘encounter’ with at a party suddenly shows up right before Halloween.
The re-introduction of Billy Hargrove into his life is a messy, confusing, and soul-igniting thing that threatens to tear up Steve’s carefully laid plans.

“Relax,” Billy says, low. Amused. Like he’s not talking Steve down so much as pointing something out. “You look like I’m about to hit you.”
Steve scoffs too loudly. “Please. You’d have to catch me first.”
Billy’s eyes flick down and back up, slow enough that Steve feels it everywhere. There’s a beat where Billy doesn’t say anything, just watches him, like he’s filed something away.
“Careful,” Billy says. “You might like it.”

Summary
"I've got a job interview. Freaking out a little, to be honest."
Now, it's pretty clear that Billy doesn't actually care. That he's more interested in getting Kimberly to wipe the floor with JP's ass. But a lazy, "You'll do good, baby," has Steve's stomach in knots.
And Steve is straight. He's pretty sure he's straight, anyways. But sometimes Billy says shit like that, calls him a pretty boy and baby in that smooth drawl, and Steve starts to reconsider everything he thinks he knows about himself in the very first place.
