Summary
Vi and Caitlyn take a brunch break before their meeting with the council. (Inspired by Amanda's tweet about how they probably had some time before the council meeting.)

“I apologize if I sound… invasive,” Caitlyn says, “but your Stillwater records… They’ve been gnawing at my mind for days now, Vi.”
There it is. The bullet hits Vi flush in the chest, and she flinches back into her seat, heart stuttering to a near stop around the new lodge in it.
But Caitlyn’s lips keep moving, and her eyes are wandering around the ground in a way that suggests she’s chasing words, and it’s clear she doesn’t even notice any change in Vi’s demeanor. “When I tried searching through Stillwater’s official records,” she says, “there was no record of you, and the wardens wouldn’t grant me any of their reports or accounts of your time there.” Caitlyn leans closer to Vi and crosses her forearms over each other on the table. “What were you in there for, Vi?”

Summary
Vi raises a shoulder in a shrug. “Poet is a bit of an overstatement.” Nostalgia begins to crawl over her face again, turning the gray of her eyes hazy and quirking the scarred corner of her mouth into a reminiscent smile. Her head eases back against the top of the cushions, and she stares out at the evening sky above them, eyes darting around as if trying to find memories written in the stars. “I liked to pretend I was all big and smart like Vander. I’d steal his copy and underline words I really liked, and then I’d copy them down and try playing with them to make my own little poems.” Vi scoffs lightly. “The pieces I wrote back then were pretty shit, though.”
“I’m sure they were beautiful.” Caitlyn rests her head against Vi’s shoulder, and Vi twists her head to meet her gaze now, the corner of her jaw brushing against Caitlyn’s hairline. “Did you ever get to share them with anyone else?”
This pulls a rich, genuine laugh from Vi, so deep that it reverberates through her muscles and rolls into Caitlyn’s ear. “No,” she huffs adamantly.

Caitlyn sighs into her skin. “I’m sorry.”
Vi looks away from the reflection of the two of them, too afraid to see what might appear in her own face. She only closes her eyes and clenches her jaw. “I know,” she murmurs.
“I am, Vi.” Caitlyn’s voice comes more solid now, anguished and determinedly passionate, like she’s trying to assert a point at a council meeting. “I- I don’t want to go into battle without you knowing how regretful I am. To you. To the Undercity. To-”
But Vi isn’t a council meeting. She’s Vi.
“I know, Cait.” Vi feels her knuckles curl into the sink again, and she has to fight to release them.

Summary
Caitlyn & Vi talk about Vi's emotional and mental state after losing most of her family. It's set just a few days after season 2 ends, and for context, Caitlyn hasn't found Jinx's bomb yet. (tw for blood mention)

Caitlyn knows, in truth, that she would have eventually learned to live with Vi’s loss. Sure, it would have hurt, but dealing with Vi’s decision to leave would have been a walk in the park compared to the things they’ve had to go through just to be together. It would have stung, but it would’ve only left a scar, not a festering wound.
But now, knowing the kinds of sacrifices they’ve made to end up at this point, the kinds of sacrifices Vi’s made to end up here now, she knows that their wounds are going to take a long time to heal. Vi’s might bleed for years.

Summary
Jinx & Vi share a moment of reconciliation while they're at the commune (in-between moment of season 2 ep 5)

“I’m glad she found you,” Vi says, then blinks. She wasn’t even aware she was speaking, but she finds that she means her words. “She seems to really like being around you.”And you seem so alive around her. But Vi doesn’t say this. She’s afraid she might set off some sort of trigger if she admitted that to Jinx. Still, a new chill builds up in her ribs at the thought, and when she looks up at Jinx, whose gaze isn’t fully on her, an ache pulses in her throat.
It shocks Vi, every single time she looks at her sister, how grown up she is now. Vi remembers how small she used to be, her arms and legs almost nothing but bones, her eyes large and hungry as she took the world in. And Jinx still is concerningly thin, but Vi doesn’t miss the lean muscles on her arms, the bright tattoos all over her body. She’s not the little girl Vi left alone at the raging fire all those years ago - but she’s not exactly grown up, either. There’s still a little girl trapped in there, and she peaks through every now and then, through the curiosity in her eyes and the dumb jokes.

The Plot is a high-stakes survival show set in the rain-drenched Tongass National Forest. For Caitlyn Kiramman, a forensic investigator from Seattle, the Duncan Canal is the ultimate test of precision over privilege. For Vi Lanes, a bush mechanic from the North California coast, it is a desperate gamble to break a cycle of poverty and secure a future for her family.
As the Alaskan winter settles into the bone, the game becomes a brutal math problem of caloric debt and psychological erosion. But unlike any survival show before it, The Plot allows for the Convergence Clause: contestants can leave their plots to find others -- to sabotage, or to survive together. While "tech-bro" innovators fail and indomitable veterans out-suffer the field, two opposites must navigate the ten-mile gap. In the Duncan Canal, you don't just survive the woods; you survive the person you become when no one is watching.

Caitlyn watches porn at work. Her thesis advisor has approved a list of search terms:

For the past year of her research, typing in “butch” has been like fishing in a puddle, but Caitlyn tries it anyway.
