    Kai doesn’t believe in fate. Not at all. The idea that there’s some sort of invisible power pushing events in the universe to happen is entirely ridiculous to him. He’s not one to say, “science would say otherwise,” but he’s never really believed in magic. And to Kai, the idea of a destined outcome to life is impossible, weird, and a bit creepy. So he doesn’t believe in fate.

    And yet somehow, every other time he goes into an airport, he manages to keep running into the same damn guy.

    “Marty College of the Arts, is where he wanted to go and- and he just got in. He also was gonna see that concert with you in just a few weeks. He fell off a roof of the school. Someone who wanted to end it would want to make sure that fall was their last fall. He had so much he was looking forward to- it just makes no sense! Everything about his death just doesn’t add up.”

    Jay’s mouth went agape and his posture stiffened as he listened wordlessly. “How do you know all that?”

     

    “He’s told me stuff,” It took controlling every neuron in Kai’s brain to not obviously glance into the occupied seat beside Jay. “Before he died!” He quickly clarified.

    “Uh yeah I would assume before he died,”

    Kai felt his face heat up, likely turning beet red. Then he erupted into an exaggerated laughter. “Right, haha, yeah duh,”
