Summary
“It’s a nice place you’ve got yourself,” the Doctor says.
He stands with his hands buried deep in the pockets of his coat, shoulders drawn in, facing the glass as though the skyline might offer him an escape route. His reflection hovers faintly over the city, fractured by rain. For a moment, he doesn’t look like the Doctor at all—just a man lingering where he isn’t wanted.
Then, as if remembering himself, he turns slowly. His eyes find hers, and whatever lightness he’d been wearing slips, leaving something raw and unguarded behind. “Katie,” he says softly. “I’m so sorry.”
“Don’t call me that,” Kate hisses. The words are sharp, immediate, her arms folding across her chest as though she can physically keep herself from coming apart. “I thought it would be your older version,” she continues, voice trembling despite her effort to keep it steady. “But I suppose he’s too carefree now to notice.”

Summary
The grief accumulates, saves itself in a deep storage of her heartache, tucked away and layered over itself like sediment at the bottom of the sea. It should be easier by now, should be quieter, dulled at the edges, but it isn’t.

Summary
“It's just... Farah, your blood shows something… Let’s say, unusual… There's nothing wrong with you, but I want to make sure we know for certain before jumping to conclusions, okay? Sometimes our bodies could signal things we don’t really expect...”
Farah swallows hard. “Things we don’t really expect?” she echoes, trying to keep her voice steady all the while a mix of relief and dread coils in her stomach. “Ben, what are you trying to say?”
Ben meets her gaze carefully, suddenly really cautious. “It could mean that you might be… pregnant.”

Summary
Saul smiles, a soft, lopsided curve that reaches his eyes and lingers there, even as he glances toward the bedside clock with theatrical guilt, then leans back just enough to meet her gaze, his voice playfully conspiratorial. "My boss is a real monster, you know. I'm not entirely sure she'll be thrilled if I show up late again," he murmurs, but his body betrays him, sinking down beside her with no real intention of leaving just yet, wrapping his arms around her with a practiced grace.
Farah lets out a small, amused hum, her smile sleepy but unmistakably sly as she nestles herself deeper into his embrace, her face pressed against the cotton of his shirt, her words muffled but laced with affection. "I heard she's on sick leave," she says, the corners of her mouth quirking as she speaks, her breath warm against his chest.

Summary
When she finally steps out of her office, the control room greets her in shadows. The lights are dimmed, the space hushed—hollowed out. Most of the team has gone, scattered like leaves caught in a retreating wind, tucked into temporary housing provided by UNIT after Conrad’s latest betrayal. And after a week like this, Kate thinks, they’ve earned their rest more than anyone else in the world.
But one desk still glows. One island of light in the gloom, steady and quiet. The monitor hums its gentle lullaby, casting soft reflections on the weary face of the girl slumped before it. Ruby. Her head rests on folded arms, gaze fixed on the screen, where familiar footage plays for the thousandth time. A ritual of grief and searching.
