“Thought I’d find you here.”
The voice was gentle, familiar enough that Mike didn’t startle. He looked up just as Will stepped onto the roof, the cold wind tugging at the sleeves of his coat. Will crossed the short distance between them and sat down beside him, close enough that their shoulders nearly brushed.
Mike smiled before he could stop himself. “Hey, Will.”
Will smiled back, soft and a little shy, like he always did when it was just the two of them. “Hi, Mike.”
For a moment, neither of them said anything. They didn’t need to. Will’s presence settled beside him like something that had always belonged there, warm and steady against the cold night air.

“Okay.” Mike nods. “Tell me about it. When did you see this?”
Will breathes out, dragging a hand down his face that settles over his mouth as he looks over it again. “This is… a memory, I think.” He declares, taking a black marker and inking lines between the reds. “A good one. Maybe not happy, but hopeful.”
