Since the war had ended, Harry's life had become a whole lot easier in many ways.
His archenemy was gone for good - dead, to be specific, - and most of the people who wanted to see him dead were also either dead themselves, or locked up somewhere far enough away for Harry to be able to get a good amount of sleep at night.
Very much to Harry's dismay though, there's still one guy causing him to lay awake at night, a guy who he just doesn't seem to be able to get out of his head - Draco fucking Malfoy.
(or: Harry Potter is a hopeless case of bundled-up nerves and emotional constipation, who doesn't understand why Draco Malfoy still makes his heart go wild everytime he sees him)

Summary
A soulmate was a choice. It was two people deciding to spend the rest of their lives together, weathering any storm. That was a fact that Ron would hold as truth for the rest of his life. Even when the Unspeakables found a spell in some ancient text that tied soulmates together with a red cord and showed them a moment of their "true love". It was a hoax, he was sure of it. But no one else agreed, willing to upend their lives just because a stupid spell said so. Ron wouldn't have minded so much if it hadn't wrecked his.
