“Why would this be the last time?” His nose wrinkled.
“I don’t know. What if I’m taken by Westalian spies? What if Ostania deports me? What if I get eaten by a bear? What if I get my last tonitrus bolt and get kicked out of school?”
“They can’t kick you out! You’re an imperial scholar. I would take the bolt for you. There are no bears in this city, so just don’t leave it. And I—I’m becoming someone powerful. So nothing will happen to you.”

“What? Becky let me borrow it,” Anya says, then flips open to a dog-eared page. “Oh, this looks fun. How to know if a boy likes you? Perfect! I was just thinking about this exact question.”
What follows is an excruciating interrogation worthy of the SSS themselves, and Damian is forced to reckon with new and terrifying questions, such as:
Since when has Anya been into these girly magazines?
And more importantly, what the hell does she mean by ‘I was just thinking about this exact question’??
OR
Anya is fed up with waiting for Damian to ask her to the dance, so she takes matters into her own hands.

And he still doesn’t really understand the magnitude of this weird feeling, but he decides it can’t be something bad. Not when it makes him feel so good inside when his eyes meet Nezuko’s and she smiles at him like that. Not when he can't stop himself from smiling back at her, even when she won’t be able to see it. His heart beating as hard as if he were in the middle of an exciting fight. Not when such little things like thinking about going to explore caves with her, taking her by the hand like he had seen other people do, makes him feel so inexplicably happy.
It can’t be something bad and that’s enough for him. Even if that's the corniest thing he has ever thought.
This time he blames Nezuko for this change of perspective.
He wouldn't have it any other way.
