Summary
The first few years of not seeing Jaskier had been fine, he could easily be avoiding Geralt. But as time went on, that was harder to believe. How can he grieve when he’s not even sure his friend is dead? How can he mourn someone who might not even be gone, and over time, how can he accept the loss, when there are so many things he never got the chance to say?
This is a prequel to my fic Capriccio, but it stands alone.

Summary
There aren’t many things that will incapacitate a witcher for long, but a severe head injury will do it. After a hunt gone terribly wrong, Geralt discovers that the physical recovery is difficult, but more so is the boredom that goes along with it. While unable to survive on the Path, Geralt takes the opportunity to challenge himself in new ways, attending a wide variety of the classes offered at Oxenfurt university, and in the process heals more than just his head injury.

Summary
Geralt had never thought too much about what Jaskier did for a living, never believed it worth considering, but when Jaskier is cursed and loses the use of his hands for as long as the curse lasts, he offers to play the lute for him so that Jaskier can still perform. How hard could it be to learn to play, anyway?
In learning the lute, Geralt also learns more about Jaskier, and realises he has never truly seen him, and now that Geralt sees him clearly, realises how much he threw away before he ever truly realised he had it. Because Jaskier may have forgiven him for what he said on the mountain, but there was no way that after that Jaskier could ever see him as anything other than an old friend.

Summary
It occurred to me that, since we know that Geralt just always gets horses that look similar, and calls all of them Roach, we have no way of knowing if the Roach in episode 7 is the same as the Roach in episode 6, and Jaskier is absolutely the kind of vicious to steal the horse after what happened at the end of the dragon hunt. So I wrote this.

Geralt has gotten used to missing Jaskier, and wondering what became of him after he sent him away after the dragon hunt. Really he has. And there is no point thinking about it anyway, because although witchers don’t age, humans certainly do, and after more than seven hundred years, Jaskier is long dead. Which is why it takes him so off guard to find him in the dorm room of a particularly incompetent mage.
