Summary
The front door opens and you cock your head up to it, tilted to the side to listen better. It shuts again, unmistakeable this time.
You bound over, metaphorical and literal tail wagging in your elation to greet him. The hallway is through the living room, the pads of your feet bouncing in the shoes you didn’t take off.
You pause when he does. He’s been gone almost three days. You’re certain the face he’s greeting you with doesn’t make sense, not unless you’d-
“Bad dog,” he snaps, his voice as thunderous as it ever gets.

Summary
She should’ve known better.
She really should’ve known better. The worst part is she knew it at the time, too. Maybe it wouldn’t have annoyed her so much if it was just hindsight.
She knew she shouldn’t have been anywhere near the bridge, not with the new blockades. She knew it was a problem- she just didn’t think Rictus would go down there himself. Why would he?
What an unfortunately, horrifically dumb thing to get caught over.
She presses her forehead harshly against the cold of the bar directly in front of her like that’ll help clear her head. All that happens is the harsh escape of her breath and the feeling of something close to defeat as it puffs out around the cold metal.

Summary
He doesn’t know what instinct he’s working on. Just that he has one – and that he’s happy to lump it in with being the protective, polite boyfriend.
You don’t really know what to make of it, either. Wrapped up in the darling little routine of him opening the passenger door for you and you thanking him – when he leans down and crowds you in you think for once he’s going to steal a little kiss, raising your chin up to meet him and letting out a little noise of confusion as his body keeps going past you entirely, face gently pressing into his shoulder as he leans over.
Or: Four times Clark doesn’t realize he’s being a big and one time he does.
