It’s a regular Tuesday in September when Regulus starts to slip through James’ fingers. On this day, Regulus reveals that he has gotten the dark mark.
James' first question: “Did you want it?”
Regulus answers, without hesitation, “No.”
And so James hugs him while he cries, and tells Regulus that he still loves him, and that everything will be okay. What he fails to mention, is that he will do anything to get Reg out of the situation he had been placed in.

Right outside the door she can suddenly see Narcissa looking at the drink, her neatly drawn brows furrowed. "Oh my god!" she squeaks.
"What is it?" asks Mary, coming to hunch over the counter with her, their shoulder brushing, both intensely looking at the blonde girl by the window. "I wrote my number on the cup." responds Alice waiting for something, maybe a smile, maybe a look back. She hears Mary making a little shocked noise beside her. Narcissa starts to walk again, in the direction of the nearest bin, and just—straight up throw the drink in it. All full, not even started. And there she goes, without a look back.
Alice and Mary just stay there, their mouth opened in shock. "Oh my god she didn’t even think about it." states Mary before beginning to laugh.

Regulus sighed:
“James, I won’t acknowledge it, okay?”
James was confused. What did that mean? The confusion must have been obvious on his face, because Regulus took a deep breath and said:
“This clearly was an information you didn’t want me to know. And I respect that. Barty and Evan shouldn’t have asked Sirius to reveal it. If ever you decide to tell me, I’ll listen. But you were obviously not ready yet, so I’ll never comment on it, I’ll never use it against you, I’ll never even talk about it. Just as if it never happened. What we built is very important to me, and I will not throw everything away because of a stupid game. Okay?”Or: The one where Sirius accidently tells Regulus James is in love with him, and Regulus chooses to ignore this until James told him himself.
