The second Patrick let his full weight fall against Pete, the world went quiet. Cars stopped honking, people stopped yelling, even the air conditioning in the hotel room stopped whirring in the background. Everything was quiet, quiet and still in a way he knew he’d have to feel again.
But that was the future, and future Pete could do this as many times as Patrick would let him. It was up to present Pete to make sure Patrick would want to do this again, which circled back to the problem of his lung capacity.
