He’s always done that. For their whole lives, Steve’s always been the one less in touch with his emotions but more easily paralyzed by them, and Bucky’s always known how to put on a brave face even when he’s struggling and promise, at times through clenched teeth, that everything will be alright.
And Steve will be okay, because he doesn’t have any other option. It’s only a million tiny cuts all over his body, his heart, his soul, slowly bleeding him dry. How could be not be okay, when Bucky’s been through so much worse.

The question caught Sirius off guard, although he should’ve known it was flitting around Regulus’s mind. Regulus had always answered questions with questions, refusing to tip his hand unless forced.
“I don’t know,” Sirius admitted slowly, “I really wish I did.”
Regulus’s eyes widened once more, as if he was genuinely surprised by Sirius’s answer. “I’m trying, Siri, I--”
And Sirius cut him off once more. “I don’t think I believe in trying, Reg. I think you are the things that you do, it’s that simple.”

Even if it is a grown adult man with messy black hair wearing red heart-shaped glasses and a shirt indicating he has ‘A Lot Going On At The Moment.’ The guy’s friend doesn’t seem like bad company either.
