Kirsten wasn’t one to be lost for words. They came to her easily, quick biting wit that never let her down. But this. This, took every single thought from her head and left her sitting there, mouth hanging open, and not a single word present in her mind.
Amy had said it so simply. Without much thought, and seemingly no reservations, which was about as unusual as Kirsten being rendered silent.

Kirsten explains in a low soothing voice.
"But being with you is the safest place I know." Amy protests weakly.
"Imagine what you would say if our situations were reversed, I was the one who went down to Vigil after multiple traumas?" Kirsten changes track suddenly.
"Oh, that would never happen. I would never be able to be on the other end of the telegraph relay." Amy looks horrified at the thought.
"Why, because only the brooding misanthropes have the right to play the hero? Take on the suffering? We will definitely be rewriting that script at some point ." Kirsten laughs while shoving her shoulder affectionately.
