"You weren't supposed to get tangled up in this," Price insists. "So it's our job to fix it. Not yours."

"I want to, though." You insist, “If I can’t help, I’m a liability.”

"No," Price is quick to say, like your words punched him in the gut. "No. You’re not, and you won't. Because then you'll end up like him, and that's the last thing any of us want."

    ***

After your life falls apart at the seams very early on, you work hard to keep the small amount of peace you still have. Foster care is rough, work is draining, school is a drag...but you eventually find yourself in a good place. All of that quickly goes to waste, however, when your family's unfinished business finally finds its way back to you.

“His throat closed up and there was no air in his lungs. How? Why? It was all his fault and he was the only one who was fine? That wasn’t right. They wouldn’t have been out on the icy roads at all today if it wasn’t for his stupid therapy appointment. He let out a horrified sob. It was all his fault. He’d killed them.”

Simon Riley’s family dies in a car accident and he gets put back in the foster system and placed in the care of John Price with the 2 other boys that are in his care, Kyle Garrick and Johnny MacTavish. Summary

“I should be asking you the same. What the hell was that, sergeant?”

Soap pulled at his own brain for the “that” the man could be talking about—but the results were inconclusive. He could mean anything. Ghost seemed to glean this for himself just by looking at his face, and shook his head. John couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed in his own failure to grasp a simple concept, so he looked at the ground, covered in lush green grass and a few flowers interspersed. But that couldn’t be right, he remembered faintly being somewhere else. A city in Mexico, maybe. His arm ached for a moment, and he winced; eyes slid shut and he brought his hand to stifle the phantom pain of a wound long past.

When he opened his eyes again something felt off. The grass was more yellow than before, but just as soft; a child’s painting of a landscape seemed to surround them.
    --------
Soap doesn't remember much of how he got there, but he's capable of rolling with the punches. He's trying to keep up with the changing world around him, but it feels like he's getting left behind at every turn.

    Summary

Marjorine. He knew her, but from where? It had been haunting him since the start of the school year. A piece of the puzzle was missing in his mind, dots weren’t connecting. She was so familiar with her button nose, pink lips and big, blue eyes. Her small frame was mesmerizing and fitted with frilly clothes. Blue and green seemed to be favored in her wardrobe. Her wrists, neck and fingers donned pastel, chunky jewelry. She was so unique, so sweet.

Butters hasn't been seen since the end of Junior year. When the blonde airhead Marjorine joins the class, Kenny McCormick seems to be the only shabby rascal to recognize Leopold.
