Despite fully expecting Dr. Kang’s arrival any minute now, the sharp knock startles Hongjoong out of his anxious sipping. He’d brewed a pot of tea in an attempt to soothe his nerves, and upon realizing he’d have a guest, his instincts suddenly flare up with the hope that the doctor would want some. Provide. Serve.
He opens the door with empty, shaking hands.
Dr. Kang smiles softly at him when their eyes meet. The air gets sucked from Hongjoong’s lungs, and he can barely get his lips to lift even slightly with the sudden panic that grips him.
“Kim Hongjoong? I’m Dr. Kang Yeosang, your hybrid specialist for the evening.”

No, Yunho thought, this can’t be happening. Mingi had gotten hurt before, badly hurt even, but nothing that couldn’t be patched up with a few healing spells and some rest. Nothing that left their cleric’s face stricken with sadness as they looked directly at Yunho.
“Yunho,” Seonghwa said quietly, their brow furrowed in concern. “I need you to understand how serious this is. My spells can’t do anything for this, and he won’t let me anywhere near him.”
Yunho’s heart raced as Hongjoong and Yeosang reached out, their hands resting on his shoulders, trying to placate his panic as he stared at them with frantic eyes. Seonghwa glanced nervously between the three of them before focusing back on Yunho. “Did you inhale any of the pollen?”
“No,” Yunho replied, his frustration boiling over. “What’s happening with Mingi? What’s wrong with him?"
Seonghwa took a deep breath, clearly choosing their words carefully. “Are you familiar with the effects of Sussur flowers at all?”
