Summary
In a kind of poetic turn of events, Charles Leclerc drives his Scuderia Ferrari Formula One race car into the barriers of the Red Bull Ring on an early July afternoon in 2023 while trying to defend his position against Mercedes’ George Russell in the 52th lap of the race.
Instead, Leclerc’s car goes into understeer, locks up, and runs off track into the barriers before almost anyone is able to react. Leclerc’s race engineer can be heard on the radio requesting a health check- his request will not be fulfilled. In fact he, along with the rest of the world, will not get a reply at all. The 2023 Austrian Grand Prix is red-flagged almost immediately, and it does not resume.
