Summary
In a moment of hubris Orochimaru would neglect to take into account an insignificant little pinkette as he sought to manipulate the Uchiha. Now instead of Sasuke, the Curse Seal of Heaven has been gifted to Sakura. Assured that the end result will only be another corpse to waste his gift. Yet, what no one could have counted on, even Sakura herself, was the fact that she remained too stubborn to die. And the Innerself hidden away that could finally rise to the surface. Now both sides of Sakura stand together to not only face the new dangers ahead. But perhaps finally prove to not only everyone else, but too herself as well that she no longer has to be the third wheel in Team 7, but a true equal. Unfortunately, such ambitions will always lead to even fiercer opposition. Especially when one becomes a pawn in the game of chess that is this world.

Sakura is my favorite Naruto character, and the hate she get's is beyond me! So here a kinda time travel fix-it AU! I pull from quite a few tropes- but I hope to be as original as possible :). Also Shisui lives and he's very dear to me<3
Also please be lenient with any mistakes in either story or ninjutsu writing! It's been a bit since I've read or watched the full source material.

Summary
After finding a dog abandoned by the riverside Sakura calls Kakashi-sensei to help her save him, nevermind the fact that they've barely spoken since Sasuke defected and Naruto left the village to train. When Kakashi-sensei decides to adopt the dog, Sakura asks if she can visit him sometimes, and restarts a tentative friendship between her and her ex-sensei.
Team 7 is over, Sakura hasn't seen her teammates in years, and she was never Kakashi-sensei's favourite anyways. So why isn't he treating her like the annoyance she's always believed she was?

So she sat up and stared at the mirror’s vanity to see what about her was so wrong that no one stayed. Sakura didn’t see a fighting spirit in her, as her mother claimed. She had tired emerald eyes with bags underneath. She saw a lack of muscle, energy, or charisma. She was too delicate for potent battles and lost all her fantasy-fervent dreams the moment she faced reality. She didn’t have any special blood, demons, or curses, and lacked the strength to protect anyone she loved. All she saw was an ordinary and vulnerable girl at the mercy of the world. Sakura deals with being left behind.
