Chapter Text
Denki Kaminari had a typical life in any possible way a young hero-in-training could have. He went to a high school, had amazing friends, and got terrible grades (so relatable, he could say). Denki acknowledged that if he were a character in a TV-show or a book, he wouldn't be the protagonist. Because in this world filled with quirks, he was completely normal. But three things in his life could be considered abnormal. They were just three little separate things that he didn't even think about much at all.
The first one was his memories of early childhood. Because well, there were none. He, for the life of him, could not remember anything from his early years of life. Denki didn't think this was that weird because really, who remembered anything from being a little child. But a couple of times in middle school, he heard his classmates say things like:
"Remember when we were five and our parents decided to take us..."
"Hahaha, no way! When I was like three, my sister always used to..."
When hearing people talk about their memories from a young age, Denki wondered how they could remember things like that. Apparently, people had some memories of early childhood. The lack of memories was not a big thing for him. He probably just had an awful memory! Sure it would be nice to remember who he used to be friends with when he was little, but "it izz what it izz."
The second "abnormalish" thing in his life was his parents. In public and at home, they always were loving and happy parents. Denki loved both of his parents equally and was lucky to have them. But sometimes, when they thought he wasn't looking, they'd give him weird looks. He swore that sometimes they even looked scared. Scared, of what? Him? Ridiculous! They were an ordinary family with a normal son, after all.
The third thing was the medicine he took every day. Denki didn't think taking this medicine was abnormal at all before much later. He knew why he had to take it; it was for his own good.
"This medicine is for your quirk. See, as an electric type, your quirk could hurt your developing body. Electricity is dangerous for the regular human body. Almost all people with element-based quirks have to take some medicine like this. Fire, as well as ice, is destructive to cells. Earth instead blah blah blah..." had a doctor explained, when Denki's mother had taken him to see one.
Soon Kaminari would understand that those three little abnormal things were a part of something much bigger.
