My Father Undead

Summary:

Just as it was time for Raon to accept his father's death, everything fell into chaos the moment the leader of Moguru, Adin, wrecked havoc in the land of the undead.

Zombies far more persistent, stronger, and can even use abilities like the humans.

Thus, Alberu Crossman commanded his people with the ranks of above generals including Raon who is still a teenager, to find out what Adin had schemed behind close doors.

What he didn't expect was to see a familiar face.

"Dad...?"

Chapter 1: Mutation In An Apocalyptic World

Summary:

His hand outstretched at the delusion of his father smiling at him, tears welling as some of the droplets floated in the air as he continued to fall.

“I miss you…dad…”

The world he’s living in already came in a monochromatic shade the moment his adoptive father died at the horde of undead for saving him.

Chapter Text

Raon Miru Henituse.

Looking at the vast sky of orange and red clouds of dusk, Raon sighed before he looked down at the wrecked city of Rowoon.

He was just but a fifteen year old boy, but the world had already fell into chaos at such of his young age.

The growls reverberated throughout the ruins of the city, the rotting smell of the corpses spread throughout.

Raon killed the zombie that was about to bite him from behind, a wisp of a wind-like smoke emanating from his hand.

He sighed once again, his blue orbs scanning for a safe place for the night.

Raon jumped through rooftops and buildings, the soft howl of the wind accompanying him as he continued to leap again and again.

But then he jumped, no building in sight as he freely let himself fall.

Everything happened in slow motion, looking upside down at the last ray of the sun behind a skyscraper before closing his eyes in a melancholic way.

“Dad…”

His hand outstretched at the delusion of his father smiling at him, tears welling as some of the droplets floated in the air as he continued to fall.

“I miss you…dad…”

The world he’s living in already came in a monochromatic shade the moment his adoptive father died at the horde of undead for saving him.

Raon landed in the ground in his two feet with a thud, successfully earning the attention of the crawling zombies near him.

With a flick of his hand, every of the undead had their head cut numerously in a gory manner, successfully killing them in one go.

Raon Miru Henituse is just a child in the world of apocalypse. Yet his ability is already the most sought out power as every people he meet wants to use him as he is nothing but a mere child in hopes that he can be easily controlled. Well, he have some people he can trust but it’s not the same.

The person he trust the most would be his father, Cale Henituse.

The problem is, he’s already dead.

“Raon-nim, General Choi Han is asking for your presence in the headquarters as soon as possible.”

He looked at the device he is holding, before he sighed and tucked it inside his pocket.

It seems that his freedom is cut short.

Activating his ability, he jumped from his place, leaving a small crater as he ran once again through the top of the buildings.

“Hah, he should have a good reason for calling me in my vacation.” Raon mumbles under his breath.

Just as he said that, a fireball was sent towards his way that he barely managed to avoid it, burning the hem of his clothes.

"Which dumbass motherfucker uses their ability against meㅡ?!"

Raon looked closely at the silhouette thanks to his sharp eyes. Staring further, he could see the face of the woman bleeding, a hole in her cheek that he could see the jagged teeth mixed with her own gums...and her very own brain.

"What the?" Raon scowls in shock and disgust.

Being in an apocalyptic world, it's not new anymore to see many zombies with their brains or guts hanging around where they shouldn't be. It's normal, but it's definitely not normal for a freaking zombie to have an ability just the same as the humans who are still fucking alive, thank you very much.

Unless Raon saw wrong.

"Yeah, I must saw it wrong. There's no wayㅡno I did not saw it wrong what the hell?!"

Several fireballs were sent towards him like a meteor, making him stumble in a rooftop's ledge as his face planted hard on the ground.

"That...hurts."

It hurts so much that he is even crying.

Well, he's still a child after all.

Raon grumbled under his breath and wiped his tears away before jumping down, perfectly landing in front of the zombie who was looking at him calmly.

"Everything is wrong. Aren't you supposed to lunge at me like a hungry monster?"

"Gragh."

Raon could distinctly hear an undead crow cawing from a distance.

Raon Miru Henituse is currently having an existential crisis for the first time in his fifteen years of life. Cause what the fuck, did the zombie just responded to him?!

"Gragh...gek...guh..."

The zombie then waved a bloodied yet white towel, as if she was saying that she came in peace.

For the first time once again, he doesn't know what to do.

"You...came in peace?"

The woman sent a thumbs up, nodding before groaning again, "Gurh."

Raon is confused, "Aren't you a peculiar one."

The zombie just shrugged, picking up a rock as she wrote in the not-so-ruined-ground.

"Ro..."

Two letters and the zombie stretched her stiff fingers before continuing.

"Sa..."

The zombie groans, her red hair itching the exposed muscle in her cheek.

"Lyn..."

"Gwaergh."

The zombie then pointed at the letters written then pointing to herself.

"Your name is Rosalyn?"

The zombie nodded again.

Raon hums, "Why did you attack me? Are you hungry?"

Rosalyn makes a disgusted face then crossed her arms in x way, shocking Raon as he let out an amused gasp.

He hums once again, eyeing the taller woman as he noticed something.

"Maybe you can talk...your tongue is just in shambles..."

Rosalyn visibly flinched, making Raon smirk to himself for having the right train of thought.

"Smart Rosalyn! Do you want to come with me back to the HQ?" Raon asks as he gave a toothy grin.

Rosalyn's eyes squinted.

"As long as you don't attack or bite me, I promise I won't do anything and stop the people from killing you."

Rosalyn grumbles, "Gwael."

Raon lets out another amused gasp, planning to have Pendrick heal the zombie's face and restore her tongue if possible.

Well, he wants to talk to her more...since that red hair she has is the same as his deceased father's. That was enough reason to come in truce with a man-eating being even though she tried to kill him just earlier ago.

Along the way, Raon continued to ask questions like a curious child.

"Are you mutated?"

A nod.

"Is it man-made or it just happened over time?"

"Gwerghsht."

Raon became silent at her answer, looking if she would display any raw, humane emotions in her face.

Even with the short time they spent together, Raon had already understood what the woman meant.

In normal times, he would have boasted to his father that he is the great and mighty Raon Miru Henituse to understand such complex words.

But then again, that is only from the past. He had already stopped calling himself great and mighty five years ago.

He stopped because he is not great and mighty enough to save his own father even from his death.

"Who did it?"

Rosalyn looks down at the child beside her, crouching again before writing letters that are almost undistinguishable.

Raon took a while minute to understand the two words that were written.

"What the fuck?! Are you serious?!"

Rosalyn grunts in answer, looking with scorned eyes towards the letters she wrote.

Mogoru. Adin.

Raon growls, pulling the zombie closer as he continued their way towards the base with one thing on his mind.

'Cookie prince and the others need to know this.'

For better or worse, he hopes that some mutated zombies are the same as Rosalyn if ever there is more like her. Even though he doesn't know what Rosalyn wants from him, there's no choice right now but to trust her.

And besides, Raon trusts his intuition more than ever since that incident.

'Dad, please look after me wherever you are.'

✶⊶⊷⊶⊷❍⊶⊷⊶⊷✶

Thud. Thud. Thud.

A figure kept pounding the glass encasing him albeit weakly, his shallow breath could be heard through the mask that is giving him air.

Even though his sight is blurry from the water, he could see a silhouette walking close towards him.

"Ah, you're finally awake."

He growls under his mask, punching as strong as he can towards the smirking man outside his capsule.

"Grrahh..."

The other man smiles in contempt before peaking at the woman behind the computer.

"Specimen 1108 is successful."

"Gragh!" Thud. Thud. Thud!

'You motherfucking piece of shit. I'll kill you once I get out of this fucking capsule you asshole!'

The man chuckles, "You're still as feisty as ever, Cale Henituse."

In return, Cale raised his middle finger towards the man.

'Fuck you Adin! Fuck! You!'

Cale could only curse in his mind, since his zombified tongue is too stiff to let out such broad words he's thinking.

"Graaagghhhhh!!!"

He repeatedly punched the glass again and again in a futile attempt.

Adin just continued to chuckle at the redhead's poor actions against the capsule that was encasing him.

'Fuck everything.'
