Chapter 1: First Floppy Encounter

Chapter Text

The cave felt cold and empty tonight, Dick had gone to Titans Tower for the week, leaving Bruce alone to deal with Dr.Crane running wild around the financial district. Not that he blamed Dick, he understands the boy needs his space and to develop his own skills as a leader. It was just harder coming down from the fear toxin without him there.

He had finally gotten a sample of the new strain so he could make an antidote, not just for him but for all the patients that had overloaded the hospitals after Cranes last attack. He had just finished analyzing the sample when he heard a wet flop, where the underwater lakes in the cave system meets the artificial floor.

Bruce spins around into a battle stance, ready to take on who dared decided to break into his cave. The wet flopping continued down the hallway leading from the Batjet to the main hub. Until it exits and reveals itself, and… it's a seal. More accurately its a baby seal, far too young to be separated from its mother.

How the hell did it get down here? Seals haven't been seen in gotham bay for years, and it would have had to swim a long way to get here, far to long for its mother to not have noticed and drag it back to her. Perhaps the new green policies in gotham are finally working, even though everyone ignores them.

More wet flopping brings him out of his mind, realizing he had let the seal continue into his cave and up to the Batcomputer. Bruce debate with himself on a course of action, on one hand going around touching random wildlife is sure to get him a nasty bite. But on the other letting a animal wander around his cave is sure to be a disaster, and it would most likely get the poor thing hurt.

Once it had gotten to the front of the monitor bruce decides its had enough adventure for one day and goes to pick it up. Only to see the little creature rise up as far as it’s body allows and smacks the dinner alfred had put down only a few minutes ago from the ledge of the desk. It then pick up the steak and starts booking back towards the hallway.

My god Bruce did not know that seals could move that fast on land! By the time he had almost caught up with the little devil it had gotten to the edge of the pool and had jumped back into the water. Leaving with his dinner and his dignity.
