Work Text:

Gokudera Hayato — Tsunayoshi’s office

It was a peaceful day at Vongola manor. The storm guardian was bringing documents to his boss at his office.
“Excuse me, Tenth. I brought the documents –” Gokudera paused when he saw a person who he didn’t expect to be here. “What are you doing here? Don’t you have any work to do?”

“All done.” Hibari answered. He leaned on the desk beside Tsunayoshi, his back to the door, not looking at the right-hand man. His action pissed Gokudera off.

Tsunayoshi put down his pen to massage his temple, reaching for the documents from his right-hand. “Thanks, Gokudera-kun. This is all you’ve got?”

“Yes, all of them.” When walking close, Gokudera saw something strange on his boss. Not that Tsunayoshi usually dressed up neatly or anything, but today was too strange. The hair was such a mess. There were also a lot of wrinkles on his dress shirt and tie.

“What do you mean?” Tsunayoshi asked while reading the documents, not noticing his guardian’s confused face.

“You look like a kitten just getting out of a wrestling match with the owner.”

Tsunayoshi suddenly turned red. He eyed Hibari who was standing still, not saying anything. “Nothing. Just stressed out a bit. Nothing serious.”

“Oh… do you want some tea or snacks? I’ll tell the maids to prepare for you.” Gokudera asked. Tsunayoshi nodded, smiling at him. The storm guardian felt a bit relieved to see that his boss was alright, and went back to be irritated.

“Also, bring some coffee for Hibari-san.”

“Yes.” After answering, the right-hand man walked out of the office with annoyance.

“Hibari-san? Why did you call me that?”

Before the door closed, he heard the cloud guardian huffing while Tsunayoshi laughed dryly.

Gokudera sighed. He was certain he sensed something between his boss and the cloud man.

Yamamoto Takeshi — the infirmary

The rain guardian was covered in scraps and cuts from head to toe. He was just back from an assigned mission from his boss. When other guardians saw, they shooed him to get patched up immediately. It was rather well known that Tsunayoshi didn’t prefer seeing his friend get hurt; however, it was unavoidable in some missions. So he provided the best and the fastest treatment possible for them.

Yamamoto walked while yawning to the infirmary wing. This mission took so many days that his energy was drained. He planned to eat something and take a nap after finishing bandaging up, then he would go to see his friends and boss.

“Shamal? Are you here?” the swordsman knocked the door, “can you patch me up, please?”

“How many times do I have to tell you guys that I won’t heal male patients?” The assassin doctor said tiredly but Yamamoto didn’t care.

“What about your doctor's moral thing? That you doctors need to heal anyone, either allies or enemies. Besides, you’re the best of the best. Help, pretty please?”

His injuries were quite obvious, albeit not seriously severed, the kind Tsunayoshi wouldn’t let him be. Yamamoto thought Shamal might be afraid of getting burnt by his Dying Will flame or getting frozen by zero-point breakthrough. Eventually, he got patched up.

“You know, you should just find your personal healer. I don't wanna deal with you males anymore.”

“Couple? What couple? Is there one in our famiglia?” The rain guardian was curious, completely ignoring other complaints from the doctor. He hadn't heard of anyone being in a relationship.

“Just go look by yourself. They're in the next room.”

Yamamoto couldn't ignore his curiosity so he decided to peek into the said room.

Hibari sat on one of the hospital beds. He looked like he went through several rough battles (though, even if he went through real battles, he wouldn’t be this worn out.) He was shirtless, only wore pants and shoes. The torn, blood-stained, violet dress shirt was thrown away on the floor. His bare torso was covered in bandages and plasters. Tsunayoshi sat on the small stool next to the bed, patching up Hibari’s left arm.

“I told you it doesn't hurt. Do it properly or I will get infected eventually.”

“Then stop picking a fight with Mukuro. You know that I don’t like seeing anyone get hurt.” Tsunayoshi, tiredly, said.  “Or at least tone it down. This is far worse than the most difficult mission you have been through.”

“Isn’t it good? So you know that I’m strong.”

“So prideful, aren’t you,” Tsunayoshi laughed. “But I can’t deny that.”

Yamamoto Slowly closed the door before he heard a loud bang on the door from the inside.

“Never know you would be the one to pry into other people’s lives, Yamamoto Takeshi.”

The culprit laughed dryly and opened the door, “My bad. I heard from Shamal that Tsuna is here, so I came to say hi.”

Hibari obviously frowned. A tonfa was on the floor. He guessed the bang sound was from the cloud guardian had thrown it to the door. Tsunayoshi just smiled at him as usual. “You’re back, Yamamoto.”

“I’m back! Was covered in bruises but Shamal already checked. Don’t worry.” Yamamoto smiled a tranquil rain smile as always. “Never know that you guys are so close. How long has it been?”

Tsunayoshi looked startled, glancing at Hibari. Hibari’s face was calm and collected. He just put his hand on the boss’ lap.

“For a while now.”

Sasagawa Ryohei — Hibair’s Foundation headquarters

Due to their status as the closest schoolmates(?) in middle school (they were the closest, yes, but that didn’t mean they are actually close), Sasagawa Ryohei was the only guardian who could visit Hibari’s headquarters and didn’t get kicked out.

Until one afternoon, the sun guardian visited the headquarters. He held a box of sweets in his hand. He also changed his outfit to male kimono to fit in with Japanese decoration.

“Kusakabe, where’s Hibari? I’ve got some sweets.”

“He is here, but –” the vice president hadn’t finished speaking, the enthusiastic Sasagawa rushed into the room.

“That’s great!”

“Wait! Kyou-san needs some privacy right now. Let me inform him before you get in.”

“Alright, then.”

Sasagawa thought he saw Kusakabe sighed before leading him to his boss.

“Kyou-san, Sasagawa-san is here.”

“I’ve got some sweets!” The self-invited visitor tried to present himself. To meet his school mate, he would even climb Mount Everest bare handed.

“No proper appointment, no proper welcome.” Hebari said coldly from inside the room. “Wait outside.”

Sasagawa scratched his head, “normally, he’s more welcoming than this.”

“As I said, he needs some privacy,” the vice prez sighed again.

“Being too stressed isn’t good for your health, man.”

“Stop making me stressed, then.”

The Shoji door was opened. Hibari frowned at the uninvited visitor. “Next time, I would be really thankful if you tell Tetsu before you visit.”

Finally, Sasagawa got to get in.

What a surprise, Tsunayoshi was also here. The young boss, wearing a grey male kimono with orange undergarment, looked match with Hibari in black and violet. He sat across from Hibari’s seat. There were two cups of Japanese tea. Both of them were still nearly full. He must have been here not long before Sasagawa came.

“Why are you here?” Hibari asked after moving himself to sit beside Tsunayoshi. Sasagawa was the only one on the other side. Kusakabe was told to sit together by Tsunayoshi.

“Nothing much, just asking how you’ve been. Also, I’m the closest to you in this famiglia, so I must be a bridge between you and others. Well, it seems like I’m not needed. Sawada is here already.”

“Sometimes we can’t just force others to do things they don’t want to,” Tsunayoshi sipped his tea. “Hibari-san being himself is alright.”

“Humans, by nature, are social animals! C’mon, Sawada!”

Sasagawa tried to argue, but no one seemed to listen to him.

“I would rather choose who I work with than let others order me around.”

Tsunayoshi shrugged when the sun guardian looked at him, then put one piece of sweet into his mouth.

While he was leaning, the kimono collar was down a bit, revealing red marks under the clothes. As he was extremely straightforward, Sasagawa didn’t even think before asking, “Sawada, are you dating anyone?”

Tsunayoshi choked and coughed, “where does that idea come from?”

“I saw those marks under your shirt. You aren’t a person who enjoys one night stands. Thus, dating.”

Tsunayoshi covered his face with his hands. He was bright red from his ears, his face and down to his neck. Suddenly, the host just got irritated, bringing out his tonfas to hit his ex-school mate.

“Tim’s up for today. Kusakabe, see him out.”

“What, dude? I was here just not long ago!” Sasagawa shouted when he was ushered to the door. Kusakabe opened the door for him to get out.

“You caused enough chaos. I will keep the sweets for the sake of my lost time.”

“I haven’t even had one!”

Lambo — kitchen

After so many years, Lambo grew up and was in middle school now. He had a high school entrance exam next year. He couldn’t just stay chill and fooled around like when he was a kid. He had to finish assignments and study for exams, staying up so late every single night, also this night.

Lambo in cow print pajamas stretched his body after finishing his homework and exam practice for today. The clock showed it was already half past midnight.

“It’s that late, huh?” the boy yawned, his stomach rumbled loudly. The diner was hours ago, he really needed some snacks now. “I should go find some leftovers in the kitchen.”

The lightning guardian stumbled in the dark, nearly fell from the stairs many times — he didn’t want to wake everyone up by falling from the stairs.

When he was safe from falling, Lambo quietly sneaked to the kitchen while thinking about what was left in the fridge.

Cake or something from Maman, having that with a glass of milk would do it.

“I should hurry and go to bed. I have school tomorrow.” Lambo rubbed his eyes in front of the kitchen door. He saw the silhouette there. The sound of utensils clanked with plates made him know that Tsunayoshi must come for his late night snack too. He felt a lot more relief. At least, the person in the kitchen is not a mean guy. He poked his head in, “Tsuna-nii, are you still up?”

It appeared that Tsunayoshi was not alone. Next to him was the strongest guardian. Hibari turned to him while the young boss moved away from him. “Why are you still up?”

Lambo, frozen still, struggled to answer. “Study too late… sir.”

Hearing the answer, Hibari backed down, but he still was frightening. “Then, why are you here?”

“I’m hungry…” the little guardian answered sheepishly. Hibari nodded approvingly before returning to his plate.

“Want me to make you something, Lambo?” Tsunayoshi asked.

“That's alright. I think of having some cake and milk.” Lambo replied, opening the fridge and grabbing a slice of cake and a glass of milk. “Good night, both of you.”

“Don’t forget to brush your teeth after you finish.” He heard the cloud guardian said while he was walking out. Lambo’s eyebrow twitched. How old did he think he was? He was nearly a highschool boy!

Chrome Dokuro — on the limousine

There was a birthday party for Dino at Cavallone’s. Although it was called a party, it was a private party for friends and families, including his little kouhai and his guardians. Now, Tsunatoshi and his guardians were on the limousine to the party. Except for Lambo, who was not old enough, was left at the manor due to the party full of alcohol.

Chrome joined as the mist guardian as always. Mukuro rarely joined them anyway. Even though he worked with mafiosi didn’t mean he wanted to associate with others except Tsunayoshi, not that they were friends or anything. The other half of the mist guardian roamed around on his own. Tsunayoshi didn’t mind that and prepared a space for him to come back home.

What was so surprising was the cloud guardian joined them willingly.

It was well known in the famiglia that Hibari didn’t like crowding. If joining their famiglia as a cloud guardian was like a miracle, attending this party was like asking for a miracle from the next life. They had no idea how Tsunayoshi convinced him.

It was quiet in the limousine. There wasn't a single argument, not like in the past.Since the first time they got together, they became responsible adults, too old for childish arguments. In particular, Gokudera and Sasagawa stopped arguing and shouted everywhere and everytime. Thus, the trip was so peaceful.

Gokudera was the driver for them. Yamamoto was seated beside him. Sasagawa was with Chrome in the second row, the result of everyone’s opinion that he could take care of her (and, what? They think she needed protection? She was a badass and could take care of herself just fine, thank you very much.) At the back row sat Hibari next to Tsunayoshi, bobbing his head up and down during his nap.

Chrome was kind of surprised that Gokudera hadn’t been objecting to this. Maybe because he was required as a driver, he couldn’t sit next to his boss.

There were only sounds from the storm and the rain chatting and Sasagawa’s phone keyboard from sending text to his sister. For her, she got a video call with Mukuro.

“Chrome, I think there's an interesting thing back there.” Mukuro said through her headset. Chrome turned to look back.

At the back row, the cloud guardian put his head on the young boss’ shoulder, sleeping soundly. Tsunayoshi smiled a little, leaning his head on top of his guardian’s jet black hair. He saw her looking his way and sent her a kind smile, putting a finger on his lips.

The female illusionist felt hot all over her face. She had no clue they are this close!

+1 Hibari Kyoya — dining room

After the party night at Cavallone’s place, most of them were out of commission. Sasagawa and Tsunayoshi fell asleep before they even got into the car. Yamamoto was a bit drunk. Gokudera and Hibari were in the best condition compared to others. Gokudera was needed as a driver, white Hibari just didn’t like liquor. The duty of carrying others back was theirs. For Chrome, she didn’t drink much, but she was too sleepy to keep staying awake.

The next morning, at the dining table, only some people woke up early and freshly. Sasagawa, who got a hangover, held his head with his hand, nearly fell into a bowl of oatmeal. Yamamoto, who usually woke up early to work out, just joined them recently. Chrome was eating while yawning. Even Lambo, who didn’t join the party, also woke up late on weekend (before he didn’t have a chance to sleep well after this). The people in good condition were Hibari and Gokudera.

And for the person at the head seat – Sawada Tsunayoshi – no one saw him since morning.

“Dame-Tsuna still not awake?” Reborn walked in with his cup of coffee.

“Last night, the bronco offered him too many glasses. He might not be up anytime soon.” Hibari replied, sipping his coffee.

“That’s why I told him he’s still Dame-Tsuna.” Ex-home tutor sighed and shook his head and joined the guardians at the table.

Finally, Tsunayoshi walked in, wearing his pajamas, looking not actually awake. Everyone said good morning, but he didn’t care. He walked to the cloud guardian and did something no one ever thought about — he sat on Hibari’s lap.

All of the sleepy people were fully awake. Gokudera nearly sprayed his coffee from his mouth. Hibari didn’t care about others, putting Tsunayoshi’s head to his shoulder. There was only one person who wasn’t surprised, Reborn. “What? I thought you guys already know that they are dating.”

“Yeah, I might think of that. But Tsuna never says anything. I thought he didn’t want us to know.”

“You never asked.” Hibari said, bringing the boss closer to his chest, not giving anyone a glance.

“Wait, what about that night in the kitchen, Tsuna-nii moved away from you,” Lambo asked quietly.

“Showing PDA in front of a child is not really appropriate.”

The lightning guardian sighed. He couldn’t argue with Hibari, not even ten years from now on.

“Excuse us. He needs more sleep. See you, Akambo,” the cloud guardian carried his lover in his arms.

“Wait, where did you bring him, your room or his?” Gokudera interrupted before Hibari left the room.

“Not that it’s different.”

“I asked because if there’s anything I can go get him at the right place!”

Notes:

Sasagawa: wait, but I DID ask you guys tho!
