How Shadow's Of Rose Should Have Been (Fanfic version)

Summary:

This is the entire DLC, but Alcina is playing a role in helping rose like Ethan is. However, Alcina and rose are both being helped by Ethan escape her own castle, finding all the masks and solving puzzles.
...

If she can even call it her own castle anymore... Ugh. The amount of slimy mold that is everywhere is absolutely atrocious. Rose would agree, aswell.

Notes:

You can read the comic version on my tumblr, @milkiedimitrescu ♥️ I decided to make both versions because why not???

Chapter 1: Entering The Megamycete

Chapter Text

Rose met a random guy named K. He was sitting on the bench in front of the giant lake, in a city. He somehow knew how to get rid of her power's, though. It was pretty strange he would know but she played along anyway. Walking into an lab showed an pink, glowing flask with a moving substance inside it. It disgusted Rose slightly but she really didn't mind it. All she needed to do is find out how to get rid of her power's with the help of her "friend" if she must call him. He told her that she probably needed to reach out her hand to the Megamycete to be able to pass through it.

Everything went white after...

Rosemary now woke up underwater in the middle of some type of ocean. She really didn't know where she was until voices made their way into her ear.

Memories, Rosemary presumed, maybe these were the memories of the people who died near the Megamycete. There were window's everywhere. One had her mom and dad inside. They seemed to be in disagreement with something. The others were doing normal things but for most of them, Rose couldn't even tell what they were doing.

The louder, and louder, the voices got, it caused Rose to clench her ears with her veiny hands at hearing the insults of the kid's who bullied her in school.

"Shut up." Rosemary growled in annoyance,

The voices continued to get louder and louder as she fell through the dark Atlantic void. She couldn't take it anymore. The voices were screaming at this point.

"PLEASE JUST SHUT UP!" Rose boomed, not wanting to hear the voices any longer.

Then, it stoped. She woke up back in the lab but, K was gone..? Where did he go? She looked everywhere and calling out to him to find out where he had gone, but he wasn't here. Maybe Rose is in the Megamycete now. She then walked to the door of the lab and opened it but, it revealed a dusty dungeon, one you would find under a castle. She needed to find a way to get out of this weird dungeon. Exploring and exploring she found a locked cell door until she heard a woman's voice come from behind the door.

"Let me out." The voice said softly while knocking gently.

Rosemary felt to need to help whoever was trapped in this horrid dungeon so she went on a search for a key. As she was looking she stepped inside a weird liquid... It started bubbling so she stepped away from it to avoid anything bad coming from the gooey substance on the wooden floor.

Eventually she got to a room and apparently a particular wooden box had her name on it.

"T-that's my name..." Rose studders in confusion.

She continues to look until she finally found the key yet again she steps inside the gooey substance. This time it starts to bubble and a hand started emerging out of it. She quickly stepped out of it.

"What is this stuff..?" Rosemary questions in horror.

She ignores it and goes back into the cell to unlock it. When she steps inside, there is nobody in there but a huge puddle of the gooey stuff on the floor. Above it shows a child's photo of a family but in all black crayon. She then crouched to grab the drawing to observe it once more, until another hand began emerging from the gooey stuff.

"Ah!" Rose cried in fear as the hand attempted to pull her under the mold.

"Someone help!! Please! Somebody---"

That was when she felt a large gloved hand grab her by the arm and pulled her out of the room in an instant. She felt herself flying outside the door until she hit the floor with a loud crash. Huffing, she looked up in relief.

"T-thank you! That was---- Huh?!" Rose said looking up at the tall woman before her, doing the same crouched pose she was in, at this moment.

She wore a wide-brimmed hat with curly raven black hair spilling over her cheeks to her chin. She had a curvy figure aswell. Her dress hugs her body pretty well and she wore three black roses on her chest which was pinned to her dress. Her makeup was almost, perfect. With her blood red lips, her reddish pink eyeshadow and her golden eyes which seemed to glow. Rosemary also noticed she was extremely pale, including her white make up. The woman only stared and then at the same time, both of them got up. They both stared at each other in awe and confusion.

Jesus, she is really tall. Rose thought

"...Who are you?" Rose asked the large woman.

"I'm Alcina, Alcina Dimitrescu. What is yours?" She asked

"Oh, I'm Rosemary. Rose for short." Rose replied smiling up awkwardly

Alcina's eyebrows raised at the name, first this strange girl looked like the female version of Ethan Winters and now their name is Rosemary..? Could it be that this girl could be the vessel Miranda tried to use to bring her Eva back?

"What is your... Last name, dear." Alcina asked again. Really desperately wanting to know whether this is Ethan's daughter or not.

"Winters. My last name is Winters." Rosemary replied

"So you are the infant that was going to be used as a vessel...." Alcina Acknowledged sadly, quietly hopeful Rose didn't hear her.

"Wait, you know me?" Rose asked, surprised.

"I do, darling but I don't think you would remember who I was because you were only a baby." Alcina said. She didn't want to reveal that she was apart of keeping the pieces of rose, along with her sibling's. That she only kept her head in a flask. She was scared Rose would turn on her, after. So she kept that to herself for now until she was ready to reveal it and try to reason with Rose of how she didn't really want to use a baby as a vessel only to bring back someone else's daughter. She only had to listen to mother Miranda because if she didn't, she would be punished or something even worse. She didn't want to get into that topic so she changed the subject.

"Come along, Dear. We must get out of here as soon as possible." Alcina said reaching out her hand to Rosemary, who held her small hand back.

"Okay, at least I have someone with me, now. This place is scary and weird." Rosemary muttered in relief. This place was really starting to freak her out, with all the gooey puddles and moldy stuff.

They then both walked down the stairs and further into the dungeon. It was really dark so Rosemary had to turn on her flashlight because of how dark it was. As soon as they found another room, there was a huge hole in the wall. One that can fit both of them inside but there was a huge body blocking it. Rosemary walked over to it and tried to lift it but she was way to weak for that.

"I'll help," Alcina said, amused at her attempt, and then moved the body out of the way like it was nothing. Rose looked shocked with her mouth opened wide.

"How?!" Rose asked, Iridiculously. She needed answers.

"We will save that for another time, shall we?" Alcina teased smirking down at Rose.

There were flies flying around it which reminded her of her three daughters. Oh but sadly, she didn't find them in the Megamycete yet. Hopefully she would soon, with Rose. She crawled inside, along with Rose to the other side of the dungeon and they found a large room full of cells. All of them had copy's of Rose inside them. They were begging to be freed. All of them were scared for their lives as if something else was lurking above. Rosemary looked terrified at the amount of Roses there were. They didn't even wear the same clothes as her but all wore some type of black dress with black stockings and shoes. Rosemary looked up at Alcina and her eyes were wide and they seemed terrified as they both walked around. In Alcina's perspective, she felt scared that this room existed in her own castle. Or is this her castle? She didn't even know anymore. They both found some type of gate too right at the end of the room with an empty lever thing. They both knew they needed to split up to find another lever, so they went on a search to find it.

Rose went inside the hole she found in the wall and she climbed back out with the lever. She handed it to Alcina who attached it to the gate and pulled it down. The mold in the room started bubbling and figures and figures began emerging from the ground. Rosemary saw Alcina let claws out of her hands and began slicing the faceless people, in fear and anger that they dared step in her space and Rose's. Rose and Alcina ran around while the other was slicing the creatures to ribbons until the gate was opened and Alcina randomly lifted rose up and carried her through this horror. Arms of the dead gushed out of the wooden walls and they got to finally a familiar large room. The figures on the walls were going to war and the fire of the light inside were crackling. One of the faceless creatures slowly approached them.

"Stay back!" Alcina sneered, covering Rose with her arm who was scared for her life. She needed to save her from this, filthy creature!

Rose didn't even know what to do at this moment until yellow sparkles opened up a secret door for them to run out of. They both ran for their lives until they found another familiar room, Alcina crawled inside the large hole in the wall with Rose and to her astonishment, she was back in her room. This was her chambers in her castle so why was she here?

"What is this place?" Rose fearfully asked, mostly to herself.

"This is my bedroom chambers. It looks... different." Alcina said, observing her tea room where she used to have little tea parties with her daughter's. She smiled warmly at the memory. She walked through the double sided doors, with Rose and it revealed her room. Where she used to sleep, work, relax, and do all sorts. Even her own bedroom looked different! There was now a whole flat bear laying on the floor instead of the one carpet she had, laying in the middle of her bedroom.

"This looks different too." Alcina said, anxious that someone or something, took over her own castle. If she can even call it her own castle anymore. It had a dead feeling that she didn't like.

"This is you're castle? Then why were you stuck inside that room..?" Rose asked softly, looking up at the woman.

"I don't know... I had only woken up inside that room. I don't even know how long I've been in there." Alcina looked down slightly with the brim of her hat covering her eyes, only revealing her nose and mouth.

"Oh," Rosemary said simply.

Both of them walked out of the room until a yellow text appeared on the Wall's. It read, Get away from that woman. Rosemary was confused, because why would she get away from Alcina? She didn't even try to hurt her but instead save her.

"Why? She saved me." Rosemary asked

Because she is dangerous.

The text disappeared and rewrote,

She tried to kill me.  I don't want her near you.

Rose turned back at Alcina who was also confused, but shrugged her shoulders as rose stared in confusion.

"Is that true, Alcina?" Rosemary asked,

"I don't even know this person, but whoever you are, I am not going to hurt Rose." Alcina replied.

"...Even if I did hurt you, I also promise I will not do it again. I'm sorry." Alcina apologized

Looking back at the wall, it started to read,

Do you really promise that or is that just some trick?

"I really promise. It's not a trick." Alcina said desperately.

Then the text just simply said,

Okay, I trust you.

"Thank you." Alcina said smiling in relief.

Your welcome.

The text replied back, and Rose wanted to know who this person is.

"Who are you? Our guardian angel?" Rose asked sarcastically, which caused Alcina to chuckle a little bit. But the text didn't reply this time. It made Rose try harder to find answer's.

"What is your name? John? Logan? Michael?" Rose guessed.

Micheal

There it was, the text returned and told it's identity.

"I don't remember a "Micheal" coming into my castle." Alcina thought out loud.

"Maybe it was a long time ago then?" Rose shrugged.

"I guess..." Alcina said back.

"Well, do you know if this place is safe or not?" Rosemary asked the wall again.

Its unsafe. Both of you have to get out of here.

They both shared nervous glances at each other and then nodded at the text and left the room. As soon as they left, they heard crackling. To Alcina, it sounded like the merchant. She better hope he was not the one who changed up her entire castle or he will pay. She kept her anger in and walked with Rose to the double sided doors that led to the Hall of Four. The laughing happened again but louder this time. That caused the two of them to slowly walk up the stairs that led to the Main hall. Rosemary and Alcina took a peek and what they saw, terrified them. There The Duke sat in all his glory but there was something different about him. He had a mask covering his face with an evil grin. Another rosemary was seen being dragged and screaming for help.

"Looks like we've caught another!" The merchant said grinning.

The girl has been dragged to him and she started backing away.

"Lively now, aren't you? You should have put that effort into running." The duke said in an commanding voice, leaning in he also said while grabbing the poor girl's face,

"It would have made the chase that much more thrilling." The duke cooed and the girl smacked his hand off him.

"Let me go! Let me go!" The girl cried in frustration.

"It would seem this little rabbit lacks the necessary fortitude." The duke said while leaning back. Unfazed.

The creatures started walking towards her and a huge pool of mold started emerging from under her, sucking in the other Rosemary and creatures. Now she is gone.

"A pity." The duke said disappointedly

If you had shown a little grit and actually escaped, that purifying crystal would now be yours." The Duke continued. The glowing crystal sat near the statues.

"The crystal!" Rose whispered.

Rosemary looked at the crystal in surprisement and accidentally leaned over and cause the door to open, revealing the both of them. The Duke gasped.

"Who's this?" The duke asked in an high voice and now crackling as Rose tried to hide Alcina and herself.

"Now we have TWO new little rabbit's to pursue!" The Duke said grinning.

"Let's see how special these ones are..." The Duke said in an evil tone. He began to summon the faceless creatures to go after Rose and Alcina.

"Fight them! Put them down!" He yelled in an commanding manner.

"Rose run! I'll keep them down!" Alcina said to rosemary signalling her to run while she slices the creatures to ribbons.

"Okay!" Rose yelled out bolting to the staircase which led to the exit of the castle.

"Thank God, a way out!"

"Yes!"

Alcina catched up to rose and ran with her to the exit and once they got outside, the gate closed at the wrong timing and more mold started emerging.

"Shit! What now?" Rose cursed herself for ever going in this direction.

"That means we will find another way! Follow me! Oh goodness those things don't die..." Alcina said, voice shaking with fear.

"Oh God, Oh fuck," Rosemary said out of breath from running a lot.

That's when the golden text came up on the steps

           In danger

Need

            Weapon

Rosemary touched the railing and Alcina saw the text also.

Gun, That is what "Micheal" said.

"I think Michael is saying you need a gun. Probably to shoot those things." Alcina said from behind. There was now banging on the door which made them both flinch in fear.

"Where is she going to get a gun, Micheal?!" Alcina yelled at the text in frustration.

"Yeah! Where! There is no guns around!" Rose said,

Touch my words

"What, like...this..?" Rose said reaching out to touch the text and the golden magic formed into a pistol. Alcina was just absolutely surprised at what just happened.

"Thanks, but what do I do with it?" Rose said while holding the gun in her hands.

Point and shoot

That was what she needed to do, all she needed was to point and shoot. She got it. Alcina unsheathed her claws and Rosemary pointed her gun at the door, and then it bursted open to reveal again, one of those ugly looking thing's. She shot it 5 times and it began to crumble into dust. Rose felt proud of herself aswell as Alcina who lightly patted Rosemary on the head for shooting for the first time. She really was like her father. It was cute.

They both made their way back to the main hall and they heard The Duke speak,

"I wonder where I might find the next, little rabbit." But when they got to the main hall, the giant obese man was gone. Nowhere to be seen. Rose walked to the statues and they appeared to have no faces except for the fourth one. The crystal flowed a pale blue light and was locked away in a cage.

"I think we might need to find three masks, to unlock it." Alcina said quietly.

"Yeah... Should we split up to look? Or can we look for it together." Rose asked, looking up at the woman.

"If we split up than maybe something bad would happen to one of us. I wouldn't want to risk it, dear..." Alcina said, sadly

"Then let's look together, and then we can get out of here." Rose said

Now they began their search for the mask's. First up was the courtyard but they needed something to unlock it.

"I will look in the kitchen. You can wait here." Alcina said

 Then Rose waited.
